St-Martin and St-Majan abbey, Villemagne.

The old abbey of 17th century, now parish church, and behind the bell-tower, the tower known as Mirande tower, Tower of the monastery.

Old and small Saint-Gregoire church of the 12th 13th 15th centuries.

At the end of the 7th century, the Saint-Martin abbey was established by a monk Benedictine from the Mount-Cassin. The abbey is quoted into 818.
In 893 the abbey becomes the abbey Saint-Martin and Saint-Majan, following the stolen relics of Saint-Majan, confessor of Antioche, in the abbey of Lombez, in gascogne, by two monks of Villemagne.

The abbey was plundered at the 16th century, was joined together with the congregation of Saint-maur and was restored at the 17th century, sold with its dependences, like national goods in 1793, during the French revolution.

Villemagne-l'Argentière is a french commune, located in the department of the Hérault of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 429 Villemagnais in 1999, distributed out of 8 km² is 53 hab./km².

_The name of Villemagne, comes from the presence of a Gallo-Roman villa in the valley of the Mare river.
_The name of Argentière, comes from the siver-bearing black leads which made the richness of the abbey, like that of the Viscounts of Narbonne and Béziers.
