The weather station was built of 1887 to 1894, a such strong castle. Its weather observatory is the last in France, being occupied by the men. The climatic conditions are very hard, Aigoual recoit on average 2,5 m of rain per annum. In more than one table of orientation, the station proposes a museum on the history of meteorology.

The Mount Aigoual is a granitic mountain, culminating point of 1567 m of Gard and second culminating point of Lozere after the mount Lozere 1702 m, is a south-eastern projection of the Massif-Central mountain. It is remarkable by its panorama, its climatology. In clear weather, one discovers on 300 km of ray, the Mediterranean, the mount Lozere, the Mounts of the Cantal, the Pyrenees, the Alps.
One discovers there the top close of Portalet of 1565 m, and of course the large causses and the surrounding Cevennes.
The watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean crosses the summit part. Several rivers take there their source of which Herault.

The climatic conditions are very hard, Aigoual receives on average 2,5 m of rain per annum.
Some statements records:
Maximum temperature: 28,7 °C on August 11, 2003, minimal: -28°C in 1956.
Maximum speed of the wind: 171 km/h on average on a day, gusts exceeding 360 km/h on November 1, 1968.
Quantity of maximum rain of 24 hours: 607 mm enter on October 30, 1963 to 6 p.m. and on October 31, 1963 to 18h.
Maximum height of fresh snow cumulated in 1 year: 10,39 meters (winter 1995-1996).
Numbers average annual days of freezing: 144; days of heat 25 °C: 0; days of rain: 170; days of strong wind 16 m/s: 265; days of fog: 241; days when the ground is covered with snow: 118.
It is also the place of Metropolitan France where the most important office pluralities of rain over short periods are recorded, in particular during the "Cevennes episodes" in autumn. The strongest annual office plurality, 4 015 mm was recorded in 1913.

Valleraugue is a French commune, located in the department of the Gard of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 1009 "Valleraugois" in 1999, distributed on 79 km², that is to say 12 hab./km².

Hello Joël,
A good capture of this 'fortified' weather station. Is it constructed thus to keep the workers in or the visitors out :-). I like the perspective. The grey tones of the stones stand out well against the nice blue sky. Very good natural looking colours and good clarity. The winter atmosphere suits the austere lines of the building, Interesting accompanying note. Thanks for sharing.

je crois que c'est la première fois que je vois l'aigoual en hiver sous la neige sur TE, et c'est très bien il n'y avait que toi pour le faire, une belle vue de la tour et des antennes que l'on reconnais de loin, c'est bien dégagé je pensais qu'il y en avait plus, belle lumiére

Hi Joel,
Onto first glance I saw the building as an old fortress. The constructors gave an interesting form to this meteorological centre. It was built up for strength, but against the winter. The composition is very beautiful, the lights are superb. Splendid shot. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice week!

This is a great shot of this fine weather station. Your composition is great placing the station to one side and using the path to lead the eye past the building. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The deep blue sky provides and excellent backdrop for the shot.

Hello Joël,

Quelle station métérologique, elles est mangigique, c'est une oeuvre d'art, ça a l'ari assez le pôle nord, vue les couches de neige, les températures, tu est allé un jour ou il ne pleuvait pas, vue le cile pur et limpide, mangigique ensemble très intéressant.

l'architecture est assez jolie,je l'aime bien dans le WS1!Le cadrage rend le bâtiment très imposant,c'est très bien cadré,mais ce que je préfère ici,ce sont les couleurs et la lumière qui sont très chaleureuses malgré la neige!

Du blanc, du bleu, une trés belle lumiére et ce fameux bâtiment, oui je lis bien c'est dans le sud

Image propre, come d'habitude. D'autres photographers (moi, par exemples) auraient rendu plus profond le bleu du ciel, en utilisant le polarizeur. Mais c'est pas ton style, e j'apprecie tes images simples et réalistiques.

Bonsoir Joël,
cette architecture avec forme de château est très intéressante, et peu usuelle dans une station météorologique. Tu l'as captée dans un bon cadrage avec une diagonale de sa façade qui nous donne une perspective élégante, avec une difficile lumière bien traitée et un joli contraste avec le ciel bleu et la blancheur de la neige.
Un travail excellent.

Bonjour Joël,

La présences des personne a un effet d'échelle de grandeur. La courbe de la route est un atout à la composition. La prise de vue permet de distinguer les détails et les couleurs de l'architecture de cette sation météorologique. La réflexion de la lumière sur la neige rehausse les couleurs du paysage. I like it very much: very impressive view! but this view - the building, the area around - looks so cold in every respect... this cold winter atmosphere and the colour of the castle. So the inclusion of people in the photo "softens" the impression a little, in a very positive way :)
I also like the natural colours!
