Photographer’s Note
Hi,
another POV of the streets of Perpignan, during the festival "Visa pour l'image".
This one was taken at the bottom of the Saint-Jacques quarter, next to the old university.
Saint-Jacques is an old and popular quarter, mainly occuped by gypsy people. life is often organized outside, the chairs are put outside the door to discuss and get some fresh air. The streets are also a place to put the old furnitures.
This scene sum up all this.
On the other hand, the mother saw me taking the photo and reprimanded me so strong that few people got out to see.
That's visibly hard to catch street scenes in France and especially with some communities.
I guess if you want to build a report, in a gypsy place for instance, to have to work a lot before : to be introduced by somebody well known here, to explain your approach... That's the difference between a photo-reporter and a walker like me.
And, if I'm on the other side, not behind my camera, would I want to be on a photo ? I understand people who don't want and say "we're not animals of fair".
Not easy all this.

Kalimera Yannis,
a candid shot with vivid colours in a plain street. as you've highlighted, this is not a very common scene one'd expect to see in the 'modern' cities of the west. wellseen

Hi Yannis,
Excellent daily life scene. Even if the picture is dominated by walls the focus is very much on the lady and the little girl behind the corner. Very well composed. TFS and have a nice evening!
Cheers,
Ulf

Ciao Yannis, you are right. Especially in Europe and in peripherial areas, taking pictures of people is not easy. What a difference compared to Viet Nam, for example! Anyway, I really like your note and thanks for informing us about this festival.

salut Yannis,
Une belle scène de rue, pleine de bric à brac, et avec de belles couleurs. Difficiles, de prendre des gens en photo, ce genre de scène est de plus en plus fréquente, je trouve...
Bonne journée

Hello Yannis:
The membership provides beautiful shade to shade. Details well defined and the expectant attitude of the lady, is a good element to the image.

Bonsoir Yannis
Je passe ici également,il y a la poubelle et les vieilles choses sur le trottoir et le décor est bien photographié avec ces deux personnes.Les teintes chaudes apportent beaucoup à cette composition.
Bonne soirée
Cordialement
gildas
