In the valley of Lergue, to 60 km in the north of Montpellier,

Pégairolles-de-l'Escalette is a French commune, located in the department of Herault and the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 137 Pégairollois distributed out of 32 km², is a density of 4 hab/km².

The culture of the vine is the principal resource of the village.

The culture is done in terraces or "étagères" which made it possible to stabilize the slopes.
The pieces are often surrounded of dry stone low walls called "clapas". One notices the immense stone heaps extracted the grounds and piled up by generations of farmers and vine growers.

Since always, the high valley of Lergue and the Step of Escalette are a transportation route, traversed at our modern time by the A75 motorway.

The valley constitutes a remarkable space of ballade and excursion.
