Photographer’s Note

C'est une première à Nîmes et un record : hier après-midi, près de 500 chevaux camarguais, appartenant à une douzaine de manades de la région, ont traversé la ville en faisant la grande boucle des boulevards, au départ et à l'arrivée de Feuchères. Il était bien évidemment impossible, compte tenu de la foule et d'un barriérage dont l'ampleur aurait paralysé la feria, de lâcher les chevaux à fond de train dans une folle cavalcade. C'est donc par petits groupes d'une quinzaine ou d'une vingtaine de têtes, et presque toujours au pas, que le cheval camarguais a ravi la place au taureau.

I really like the sense of command of the rider.
Nice elegant rider's posture, accompanied with beautiful horses.
Colours are excellent, framing complimenting so good,

Ce groupe de chevaux avec la cavalière en tête, est magnifiquement présenté. J'aime bien le réglage de la profondeur de champ avec l'image flou en arrière plan.

Salut Didier,
Merveilleuse photo, il faut dire que la jeune cavalière est très agréable à regarder! mais ce que j'aime ce sont tes tonalités de noir et de blanc avec juste le vert très foncé des arbres pour faire ressortir le personnage.
Quant au cadrage il est TOP avec le cheval principal très net et un peu plus gris et les trois autres très légèrement flous un peu en retrait qui donnent un sentiment d'évasion.
C'est vraiment un super boulot, bravo, je te tire mon chapeau!

très belle lumière ici et très belle attitude captée, avec ces chevaux en arrière-plan...superbe. Par contre, je n'adhère pas au format carré ici, qui, à mon avis, fige trop l'action. Cette réserve à part, beau boulot.

Hi Didier,

She drives with style, elegance, proud, in control and with the surrounding horses around here she looks like the queen of the show. When i look to technical side than the tree is sticking out of her back, with that lens you could have go to 2.8 to avoid that on a minimum.
But further nothing to pick here, it's sharp and taken in nice neutral light.

such an easy elegance here, nothing can compare with a skillfull rider in grace and posture. love the photo (and the tree in the background doesn't bother me too much), your timing was perfect to capture her expression that makes me think about a beautiful, even if a little sad, princess, whose only solace in the kingdom of her cruel stepmother are her horses :) excellent work, my compliments.

Une image peut-être un brin sous exposée. Je trouve quel le visage de cette cavalière est un peu trop sombre et qu'elle pourrait se perdre dans l'arrière plan. Par contre que son air fière est bien mis en évidence.

Tu nous gâtes en ce moment !
Cette image est vraiment superbe.
La gestion de la profondeur de champ est idéale et permet de bien détacher cette jeune femme à l'allure fière et au regard perdu. L'arrière plan et ces chevaux magnifiques finissent de composer ce très beau format carré qui va si bien à la scène.

Bonjour Didier,

Je ne suis pas tres fan de chevaux et pourtant cette photo me donnerait vraiment envi d assister a ce rassemblement. Faut dire que le modele est plutot joli :-)
Le cadre carré donne une composition equilibrée et ne coupe aucune tete. Le fond sombre permet de bien faire ressortir la blancheur des chevaux.
Je trouve quand meme la photo un peu grise, surtout sur le visage de la cavaliere. En jouant un peu sur la balance des blancs pour mettre une touche de jaune et en faisant un eclaircissement local sur la cavaliere je pense que ca pourrait rendre pas mal.
Merci pour les infos sur le guide au Nepal. Je les ai bien recues. Ca ne me servira pas pour cette année, mais je les ai bien archivées. Il me reste encore quelques coins sur la liste des treks interessants du Nepal a faire dans les années a venir. J attends beaucoup de ce tour du Manaslu pour faire de meilleurs photos que lors de mon premier trek qui etait orienté alpinisme.

quelle belle photo!J'adore le contraste que font les chevaux blancs avec larrière-plan sombre,ce qui fait superbement ressortir la scène!Le cadrage est excellent,et comme le dit si bien Diane,il y a une formidable subtilité dans la profondeur de champs,avec la netteté sur le cheval du milieu et sa cavalière,et le très leger flou sur les autres chevaux!Magnifique!

a very special scene as others have already noticed, but i cannot help a nagging feeling that i'd have loved to see more of the elegance of horses' legs in this one. maybe a vertical frame would have helped that feeling? just a thought :)

Beaucoup de contraste avec le blanc et l'arrière plan,l'exercice n'était pas facile côté exposition,c'est réussi avec des nuances dans les blancs et ici je trouve personnellement le cadrage centré justifié qui permet d'avoir la tête du cheval de gauche.

I have missed some of your latest photo's and looking through them I really liked this one. She and her horses seem so proud as they ride through town and for some reason I get a great mood from the shot, and Ican just imagine how it must have been there with 500 horses.
