Aqueduct Saint-Clément, the "Arceaux"

The work was built by Henri Pitot de Launay after approval of the project by the Council of State on 11 April 1753 and was inaugurated on December 7, 1765.
The Saint-Clément aqueduct brings in Montpellier spring water of Saint-Clément located at 13904 m. After a pipe through the countryside, a 880 m length aqueduct and 28 m maximum height, inspired of the bridge of Gard, end the course.
Connection at the city and the water tower of Peyrou was carried out by the architect montpelliérain Jean-Antoine Guiral. On one of these final arcades, a stele remembers us the famous photography of Jean Moulin, wearing a hat, realized in black and white, which was taken by his friend Marcel Bernard in October 1939 in Montpellier in against-low water tower of Peyrou.
