In French, "flying bicycle" can be translated as "bicyclette volante", but also, colloquially, as "vol de vélo", which also means "bicycle theft."

In Montpellier, 12th edition Montpellier of the International Festival of the Extreme Sports, (FISE), from 1 to 4 may 2008, where the intrepides ones are expressed in wakeboard, surfing, VTT slopestyle, BMX street flat and dirt, skateboard, skate, rollers. Expression of the surf culture, its language, its fashion and the life surrounding the sports of surf modern.

MONTPELLIER is a french commune, and the chief town of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 255 080 Montpelliérains en 2009, distributed on 56.9 km², is 4 484.5 hab./km².

It is in 985, in a donation of the county of Melgueil, that appears for the first time the name of Montpellier.

The 31 municipalities of Montpellier Agglomération gather 412070 inhabitants, in 2012.
Montpelier welcomes every month 1 000 newcomers and became the 8th city of France.

According to the definition which gives the INSEE, (National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies), the urban area of Montpelier consists of 93 municipalities, situated in the Gard and the Hérault. In 2007 it possessed 514 473 inhabitants what made it the 15th urban area of France. The urban area includes all the municipalities, among which at least 40% of active persons work in Montpelier, that is 74 municipalities.
In 2015, according to the projections established by the Insee, urban area of Montpelier should count more than 600 000 inhabitants.

Languedoc-Roussillon erea contains five departments: the Aude, the Gard, the Hérault, the Lozère and the Pyrénées-Orientales. It has for administrative center Montpelier, which is also administrative center of the Hérault. The region knows the strongest population growth of France, and could count up to 3 300 000 inhabitants in 2030, is an increase of 36% with regard to 2000.

The climate of Montpelier is a Mediterranean climate.
Contrary to a wide-spread idea, it is not less raining in Montpelier than in Brest, but the precipitation are much more concentrated.
