On the path of a magnificent small hike, The CASTLE OF MALAVIEILLE of 12th 13th centuries, quoted in 1098, belonged to the bishopric of Lodève from 1223. It is now in ruins.

_ The hike randonnée of 14 kilometers cross the château de Malavieille, visit the paleontological site of la Lieude with the imprints of the passage of animals of Permian era, by the chapel Saint-Pierre de Mérifons 12th 14th 15th centuries, and by the chapel Saint-Fulcran of the name of a famous bishop of Lodève who would have been born to MÉRIFONS. The hike presents no difficulty except for some ascents.

In 373 m of height, the ruins of the castle of Malavieille overlook the valley of the SALAGOU and a magnificent landscape of RUFFES.

_The SALAGOU river takes its source to 250 m of altitude at the foot of of the Castle of Malavieille ruins, close to the Lieude hamlet, on the Mérifons comune, in the department of Hérault. After crossing the lac of Salagou, it flows in the river Lergue in the department of Herault after a course of 20.8 km and the crossing of a catchment area of 76 km². Its flow is very irregular. _ The RUFFES, called pelites by the geologists are sedimentary rocks very friable whose origin goes up at the end of the primary era from 280 to 225 million years. Their red color is due to the presence of iron oxide. The builders of the past used the ruffes much to build there the capitelles ones, kind of stone huts, low and arched, which were used as shelters to the shepherds and to vine growers, and whom one still meets in the landscape. Vegetable cover is very poor, some trees and shrubs.

MÉRIFONS is a french commune, located in the Hérault departement of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 47 Mérifonois in 2009, distributed out of 6.7 km², that is to say 7 hab./km².

The commune is crossed by the river SALAGOU which retained downstream creates the lac Salagou.

Bonjour Joel

14 kilomètres, c'est pas une petite marche, surtout quand il faut revenir. Autant en profiter pour se refaire une santé avant que ce mur ne tombe. Une image bien construite avec une magnifique vue du paysage.

La distance entre les ruines et les montagnes donne de la profondeur à la composition. la prise d evue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des ruines et des montagnes. La bonne luminosité valorise les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Bonsoir Joel,
Il n'en reste presque plus rien !!! , mais suffisament que pour en faire le sujet principal de ta composition dans un cadrage bien décalé qui donne de l'ouverture vers ce très bel arrière plan de rochers aux couleurs chaleureuses. Une luminosité qui nous fait profiter du paysage à perte de vue

Déjà, la description de ta randonnée est intéressante, avec plusieurs objectifs intermédiaires et de nombreux édifices à découvrir en chemin : de quoi se motiver ! Contrairement aux châteaux de Dordogne que tu nous as présentés ces dernières semaines, il ne reste de celui-ci qu'un pan de mur, mais le paysage n'en est pas moins superbe, ouvert et bucolique, avec ces genêts en fleurs qui apportent leur touche de couleur !

It's even hard to believe, that on this spot was a castle just the ruin column left over the years. Panorama from the castle, when use to be was and is amazingly beautiful. I would admired for hours. Ambience calm area. Fabulous and lovely place to be over there. Fantastic work. Thanks for sharing. Awesome.

encore une randonnée qui semble interessante, et qui domine un paysage de toute beauté.Le pas de mur resté debout fournit un bon point d'accroche à l'oeil qui découvre ensuite la vallée et les montagnes.Excellent.

Salut Joel.
Une composition inhabituelle, avec ces vestiges du château, qui semblent défier le passage du temps, entouré de paysages à couper le souffle, une vue magnifique sur les collines, avec son mélange de couleurs et les complots de la vallée, une image avec un degré de liberté splendide, la bonne gestion de la clarté de lumière et optimale. Belle vue.

Bonjour Joel,

I would suggest that 15 kilometres is quite a long enough! I did 10 kilometres on Friday and was ready for a rest and a glass of wine!!

This is a very well composed shot. The vertical ruin is perfectly positioned, according to the rule of thirds and, because it towers so high into the sky, creates an imposing presence. It also produces a good sense of depth.

Ton post principal donne l'impression que le château est réduit à sa portion congrue. Heureusement qu'il y a les WS! D'ailleurs, mon choix se portera aujourd'hui sur la vue large du premier WS qui me plait beaucoup.
