The lake of Salagou located at 50 kilometers in the west of Montpelier results of the construction from 1964 to 1969 of one stopping on the Salagou brook. It constitutes a site tourist trés attended in estival period.
It fits in a decoration of reliefs characterized by an intense erosion and a red color: The RUFFES. Ruffes, called pelites by the geologists are sedimentary rocks very friable whose origin goes up at the end of the primary ére of 280 to 225 million years. Their red color is due to presence of iron oxide.
