Fanjeaux (Occitan: Fanjaus) is a picturesque village and commune in the Aude department in southern France. It is located west of Carcassonne. Between 1206 and 1215, Fanjeaux was the home of Saint Dominic, the founder of the Roman Catholic Church's Dominican Order.
In 2008 it boasted some 776 inhabitants who are known as Fanjuvéens. This contrasts with a population of around 2000 recorded in 1793.
In the second century, a fortified oppidum occupied the hill where Fanjeaux is now sited. A pagan cult was celebrated at the site of a spring dedicated to Jupiter, hence the Latin name: Fanum Jovis.
In 1193, the Cathar bishop of Castres, Guilhabert, moved to Fanjeaux. Saint Dominic founded a house of nuns nearby, later affiliated with the Order of Preachers or Dominicans he subsequently founded in Toulouse in 1215.
Between 1209 and 1214, Fanjeaux is the headquarters of Simon de Montfort. The city was destroyed by the Black Prince in 1355 during the Hundred Years War. It will be rebuilt and prospers thanks to the manufacture of pastel.

The black dog end of the street is guard of the area.
We see excellent the wood construction of the sales room
You chose a very well angle this cares for depth and perspective.
Colours and sharpness are pleasant to look at.
Very well done.

Ciao e buona giornata

a nice photo here. I like such ancient architectures and you presented it to us nicely with a nicely chosen POV. Nice depth. The dog lying on the path added a lot to the composition. A good one. Tfs.

Il est un petit peu loin dans l'image ,mais on peut tout de même percevoir sa masser et sa fourrure noire. J'aime beaucoup l'effet entonnoir.

Very nice view of the village, with good lighting and depth, and a lot of details to see, like the dog guarding the old street! Also interesting are the columns on the left, looking as if they were improvised to sustain the old construction! Excellent composition! Beautiful job!

I love your title, and the straight on viewpoint works perfectly, especially with your subject caught so perfectly in the scene. Another place I would love to exploring, perhaps when the dog moves on.
All the best

the warm tones of the buildings are a delight,it appears that only the dog is on parade in a quiet part of the village.
I do enjoy the title!

Mildew in light green on the left-side stone, tell that no sun rays enter this corner, Stephen. On the other side however, light was shining bright on the old town houses facades. Excelent contrast, good DOF up the alley.
The dog was not aware of you and the camera, or did not care for the few tourists strolled along.

A nice contrast between the decrepit looking wooden structure at left and the more durable stone building on the right. Good sharpness and the dual sides of the roughly paved street add fine linear perspective, with the door at the end nicely positioned over the vanishing point. The sort of sleeping dog throwing a backward glance animates the shot. Superb sharpness & soft pastel colours. Tfs!
