Together with TE friend Said (didi) we visited the little village Cucgnan in the hart of this landscape of mountains and vineyards. On our program also a visit to the very small village church.
In here, in the most wonderful sunlight from a small window, we found this little statue of the pregnant Virgin Mary. Unfortunately I have not so much more information either of the church or the little lady.
This is in the hart of the Cathar land - a place where a Popal decret started a massacre of some 500.000 Cathars a long time ago. And today a place also to visit the pregnant Virgin Mary.
More of the little village Cucugnan:
The village of Cucugnan, which had fame conferred upon it by a well-known story, Le Curé de Cucugnan. The tale relates how the priest in the village, alarmed by the lack of faith among his parishioners, conjured up such dreadful visions of hell in a fire-breathing sermon that subsequent visitors to the village were struck by the universal piety of the inhabitants. The story was originally told in Occitan by Achille Mir, one of a group of 19th-century writers known as the "Félibres", dedicated to keeping Provençal culture (or at least a sanitised version of it) alive. It was subsequently popularised by another member of the group, Alphonse Daudet, in his collection of tales of Provençal life Lettres de mon Moulin ("Letters from my Windmill"). This probably accounts for the fact that lots of people think Cucugnan is in Provence. Incidentally, the church in Cucugnan has an unusual statue of a pregnant Virgin Mary.

Good composition in the dark. That sunlight gives quite an dramatic impact to the statue that looked very well alive. And the half-dark and half-light effect is well composed that balanced the shots.
Well done, Jack.

Excelent guideline notes and a great work and capture you present us. Splendid angle of view and reflective light. A difficult shot and capture from a indoor church to this nice Virgin Mary, that you did so well and with a very good composition. Excelent handling of light and fine sharpness.
Good work very well seen and done. Beautiful picture!

hi jack, there is something extremely charming in the chappels - i so much like them and if they are presented in the way you have done today - it is a pure pleasure; i like the colours and an absolute precission in the composition;

Cette lumière crée une atmosphère que l'on retrouve bien dans les églises. Des prises de vue difficiles ici bien réussie. Merci pour le partage. Gérard.

A very nice ambience rendered in this photo of the madonna, Jack. Nice inclusion of the flower pot in the frame, and a good disposition of the light to accentuate the details and mood without having the light become too much of a subject in its own right. Informative notes, too.
