Photographer’s Note

In the serie "it has snowed on Carcassonne the 26th of december" (yes, I sware !), here is another view.

After the Barbican area at the Cité's foot, this time it's a part of the west fortifications of the castle.
Photo taken under the Aude's gate. The tower opposite is the Justice tower. On the left, we can perceive a part of the donjon of the castle-of-earl.

PS : the door tilt a little, if not, it was the tower, I had to make a compromise.

Hi Yannis,

This is a very nice view. Your POV through the door make us feel the fort more intense. The snow covered texture of the road is very well captured. Nice shot indeed.

beau cadre en "ogive" (et dont les courbes rendent grâces aux deux tours) pour cette montée tout à la fois légèrement brumeuse et nette.
voyage dans le temps avant celui dans l'espace ?

Bonjour Yannis,
J'aime le cadre avec la porte et l'escalier.
Le chemin couvert de la neige nous donne l'atmosphère froide qu'on trouve souvent à l'intérieur des châteaux du moyen-âge.
Je comprends le compromis; c'est toujours un choix difficile, mais ici le bon choix.

Beau résultat malgré des conditions de lumières très difficile qui expliquent le ciel un peu "cramé".
La composition est excellente.

I like the use of arches in this way. It is not always easy to get the focus correct and often the arch appears blurred but you have managed that well. I also like the zigzag of the steps in the foreground.

Well done with the frame created by the door & the perspective of the slushy path curving away. Rather problematic exposure in the distance, but the tower seems to emerge from the haze like a dream. Good work!

Cette architecture est superbe et ta photo la met parfaitement en valeur. Tu dois te régaler en habitant une ville pareille. J'aime l'encadrement de cette porte pour le chemin de ronde et la tour sous la pâle lumière de décembre.

Ohhh, I like this shot. Good idea to shot through the door and then when you see in behind, it's fantastic. The castle scene with the snow makes a great image. I even like how the light washes out the very back of it, making it seem mysterious.
