Photographer’s Note

Carcassonne, east of the town.

Built in 1681 by Pierre-Paul Riquet, the Royal canal in Languedoc (renamed Canal du Midi at the French Revolution of 1789) stretches out on 240 km between Toulouse and the Thau pond (near Sete). It's extended by the Lateral canal to the Garonne river to the Atlantic ocean. The whole is called Canal of the two seas.

For three centuries, it was an important communication way in the south-west of France, between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean sea. It was used for the trasnport of wines and cereals.
With the railway and the road development, it lost its first usefulness.

Nowadays, by foot, bike or horse on the towpath, or boat and barge, it is a pleasant place to have a walk, in any season.

Belle perspective en courbe. J'aime la manière avec laquelle ces lignes se juxtaposent pour finir par se fondre (pour certaines) dans le tournant.
Superbes reflets dans ce canal à moitié vide!

Bonjour Yannis
Le canal du midi doit être très riche photographiquement et tu as su parfaitement tirer profit des lieux en trouvant une bonne composition et j'aime tout particulièrement le reflet des arbres avec cette belle lumière douce, bravo à toi et bonnes fêtes de fin d'année!

Trés jolie vue du Canal du Midi avec ce ciel bleu qui se reflète dans l'eau, et ces joncs orangés au premier plan ! Jolie palette de couleurs !
