Beaucaire is a commune in the Gard department in Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. Located on the Rhône River, it sits opposite the town of Tarascon (photographs of which I have already posted), which is in Bouches-du-Rhône department of Provence,.
The town stands at the end of the Rhône to Sète canal in southern France, which connects the Étang de Thau in Sète to the Rhône River in Beaucaire. There is, however, no longer any access to the Rhône at Beaucaire as the lock has been closed for many years. Access is via the lock situated to the west of Saint-Gilles which links the canal to the Petit Rhône and from there northeastwards to the junction with the Grand Rhône at Fourques situated to the north of Arles. The part of the canal sitting within the town of Beaucaire is now used as a marina.

It does have give the impression of a very leisurely place; canals are like that, the pace of life seems to match the pace of the crafts! In this case, the crafts will be stationary, I would suppose!
A nice angled view, with f/g interest from the dappled quayside, guides the viewers most effectively from the f/g to a strong vanishing point. Good light control despite strong sunlight.
Have a lovely day,

a busy looking little dock this and full of so much character. This little series has yielded some wonderful insights into this region of France. It is picturesque and really appealing. A lot of beautiful detail in this perfectly executed and presented image.

I know I am a broken record at times, but the light in this scene is really superb. The trees look so green and you have composed the canal perfectly. Beautiful
all the best

La distance entre les deux rives donne de la profondeur à l'image. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des bateaux. Une bonne gestion de la lumière intense qui ne nuit pas trop au rendu des couleurs. Bonne journée.

beautiful composition. Nice boats in water. Great composition. I like the light management and colour tone. Nice depth and sharpness. Excellent capture. Tfs.

I have been think that a barge trip in southern France might be nice and this shot does nothing to dispel that thought Stephen. The atmosphere here is one of 'relaxed bustle' (does that make any sense?) The feel is almost festive in a holiday sort of way. An attractive and inviting composition with lots of lovely details to enjoy. Warm regards Rosemary

Very fine scene along the canal. A lot of boats and ships there, looks like there's a fine attractive place.
Have a good night.

A "busy" narrow canal, full of boats along the town waterfront promenade, I assume on both side's.
Fine clear view, bright daylight and depth on the diagonal POV, collected well on photo.
Enjoy your weekend,

Missed this one. The diagonal axis and converging dual sides of the canal add dynamism and superb lead in lines and diminishing linear perspective & vanishing point. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the tightly packed boats. Tfs!
