Photographer's Note

I seem to have some problems with the scanning of my images. Or rather, I believe I'm lacking in knowledge of the heavy post-processing required to get a result making the original color print justice.

As I think I was focusing on only some issues when working with this original, I've decided to do a RP with the same scan. This time using less contrast and no extra saturation in reds and cyans. Also USM-sharpening is made in three steps as suggested by Philip Coggan in the Tips-Techniques Forum.

I would like all kind of feedback on this try to improve my abilities to work with scanned prints:

1. The original version is better.
2. The final version is better.
3. Both aren't good enough, probably due to a bad color print (unsharp, overexposed aso.) or a bad scanning process.

...in a large pond close to the road were several flamingos. I immediately stopped, this time leaping to the roof of the car, in order to get my pictures. And suddenly the amazing moment is there - one of them decide to leave and start running for take-off...

This is a wonderful opportunity and more than I'd ever hoped for. It's astonishing and more so, when I see that the wings are not pink but black and red!

And more were to follow...

New post-process after the scan at 600dpi: Cropped, adjusted brightness -15, contrast -5 and saturation +20, resized and sharpened (USM) in three steps to final TE-size, framed and saved for Web.
