Photographer’s Note

L’ane of Corsica is a quasi essential element of the landscape and of its folklore, the Corsica ass equipped with the pack was used as messenger between the various pieces of the farms. "Horse of poor" par excellence, it transported men and goods, took part sometimes in work of the ground on the narrow terraces where an ox attachment was not easily manoeuvrable. One counts nearly 9500 animals, at the beginning of the century, numbers which constantly will increase until reaching 23000 in 1929. That is accompanied by a flourishing trade, with that of the meat, used in the pork-butchery for the manufacture of sausages. Today one estimates the population asine at a few hundreds. The maintenance of a certain number of ass is related to the need for a prolongation of the road network, and with its use for pot work, the transport of harvests... etc the Corsica ass is thus regarded at the same time as a cultivator, a motor cycle and a vehicle, the vocation even of the species as a whole.

"Tiestu" comme un âne, voilà l'expression en wallon qui me vient à l'esprit quand je vois ta photo, Georges. En tous cas, ici le soleil éclaire vraiment du bon côté, ce qui donne d'excellentes couleurs à la fois à l'âne et au "pachi" dans lequel il se trouve. Bien vu, Georges!

Alors chez moi ce qui me vient à l'esprit c'est plutôt Astérix chez les corses.
Ce que j'aime dans cette image c'est cette air paisible qui se dégage, de plus on dirait que l'ânon souri.
La mise au point est bonne le cadrage est bon, c'est tout bon.

This is a beautiful animal Georges. Well captured. I like how it looks kind of shy. The details are well represented, one can almost count the hairs of the fur. The homogenous yet textured background works well.

Qu'il est mignon ce Cadichon avec sa grosse tête sympathique, on dirait un jouet.

Sujet bien cadré, qui semble vouloir collaborer en se tenant bien droit.

Très sympatique cet ânon, la lumière met en valeur son poil et même les poussières sur son dos sont visibles. Image très nette et bien composée.

Je suis fermement persuadé que les ânes, quand ils s'insultent entre eux, n'ont pas de plus sanglante injure que de s'appeler hommes.

So cute. Teh furr looks really nice with good details and the light is very soft. Nicely done Geroges. It would have been nice if teh whoel shadow could have been included but he picture is very nice as it is. Tha sahdow would just be a bonus.

Your former photo "Chapelle d'Arasu" was very nice as well.

Une belle photo tout est déja dit alors je vais pas répéter mais je note malgré tout deux défauts :

L'ombre coupé de cette anon et la très forte luminosité au fond de la scène.

You did it again, Georges. Your masterful handling of light makes this beautiful animal look really adorable and soft - yet his fur looks very detailed, I feel like I can count the hairs. The natural colors are great, and he's even posing nicely for you.

Ce petit me fait sourire. Je le trouve très mignon et il est bien positionné dans votre image. Le gazon donne un beau cadrage naturel. Les couleurs sont bonnes et la netteté de l'image est impéccable.
