Overall, the spider makes the subject more than the web. Detailon the spider is excellent, but the tips of the leggs are unfortunately cut-off. Zoom out a bit, and use a neutral coloured card behind the spider, if possible - let your partner hold it up- this wil get rid of the busy background, especially the distracting blue patch at the top.

Is it a big one ? I feel like. It's frightening... Good use of the DOF still.
I guess a warmer light would make the picture even more striking. Cdewet is right, your title should focus on the spider, not the web we can barely see.
But that's a good shot !

Good sharp capture in the wild with very clear colour for me the only thing that lets it down is the lack of leg ends. The back ground doesnt bother me too much its out of focus enough to make the beast stand out , but also give an idea of the habitat you found it in.IMO certainly if you want it as a speciemin record then yes use a card or other neutral background you will also need some sort of marker to give a hint of scale. A few notes wouldnt of gone amiss help uderstand the picture and the beast. But overall Nice one and welcome to TE this is the 1st of your I have seen keep them comming
