The Sand Grain, a photo from Corse, South

Photographer's Note

Having shown previously the cliffs of Bonifacio towards West, i.e. towards the city itself, it’s just time that I show you the other side, that is towards East and the light house of Capo Pertusato. The lighthouse is hardly visible in the distance. In the background, towards right, you can see the hills of Sardinia, probably the island of La Maddalena. Below in the foreground you can see a famous rock, fallen from the cliff, which is called “Le grain de sable” The sand grain.

C'est vrai que c'est beau la Corse, mais je connais très peu
Une très belle image pleine de lumière et de splendides couleurs
Bien sûr le bateau et son écume blanche est bien placé dans la compo et est très eye catching

Un point de vue magnifique qui fait bien ressortir la blancheur des falaises et la verdure qui l'entoure. Le bleu de la mer est magnifique et le mouvement du bateau y donne de la vie.

A very rich and vibrant shot for such scenic spot, beautifully coloured, contrast and nicely detailed image. This place would brighten anybody's day, and irresistible to any photographer. The depth is all about composition and perspective from the most strategic view point, indeed a splendid scenic seascape with superb effect, lending to an overall discrete & delightful photographic impact. The foreground rocks and the approaching boat in the distant greatly influence viewers' eyes. You have captured this front so beautifully, truly a delight to see. Fine works

Certainly a very beautiful coastline! And spectacular to hike all along the cliffs (if possible with the maquis).
The different colours of the sea look great and the white cliffs stand out strongly between the blue sky
and the sea.
You captured the approaching boat at the right place.
Your Bonifacio pictures are really a wonderful series!

Amazing landscape here, fantastic high rock, no safe harbour for the sail boats. And this clear blue water, marvelous. I spent many hours lately on different boats, but on the rivers of Myanmar. Also i saw beautiful landscape of Ha Long Bay, but was not lucky with a weather like you here.

Your POV allows for a splendid full view of these marvelous white cliffs that contrast so brilliantly with the turquoise and pastel sky.
Love the wispy clouds in the sky and the lush green growing from the chracks in the rocks.

Hi Donato,

What a stunning scenery! I love your composition with the long sweeping coast line, the rock in the foreground and the crystal clear water. The lighting and colours are wonderful. The approaching motor boat might make the scene a bit more vivid, but a same time I could imagine that when you stand there and admire the view it might disturb the peace. Personally, I would probably not have included it. For me a photo without the motorboat would have been an equally good alternative. Photos convey different feelings and I would also have enjoyed the sense of being completely alone here with the stunning scenery . I am really impressed by your series of really fine photos from Bonifacio taken at the same occasion and hope you have some more. TFS and Merry Xmas!

Ciao Donato, gli ultimi tre scatti sono una meraviglia, questo è un vero schiaffo all'inverno e al freddo che ci tortura, la scogliera è fantastica e illuminata da una bellissima luce, i colori del mare variano con delle tonalità eccezionali, anche l'inquadratura mi piace molto, qualità da paura...come dice Luciano pende leggermente a sinistra...ma d'altronde anch'io ehehehe

The colours of the sea are most impressive. There is a beautiful contrast between the white rocks and the blue sea. I like how you have arranged the perspective to show the intriguing shapes of the rocks. I especially like how the sky seems to roll down behind the rocks in the distance. It is very cold and miserable here where I am at the moment. It is very nice to see a photo so warm and comforting. Thank you for sharing this warm scene. I appreciate it very much.

What spectacular cliffs these are too. Even rivalling those chalk cliffs of Dover. They are so untouched and the colours so vivid and sharp. Just my type of landscape, so I couldn't think of a better Christmas present.

It's a beautiful photo Donato and the view is just lovely. You have composed the photo very well having the piece of rock on the bottom-right and the bushes on the very foreground and then the impressive rock and shoreline bending towards the right and finally leading the eye towards the coast of Sardinia. The light and colours are really fine and the clarity and depth a excellent. The motorboat approaching is a nice element too. Thanks for sharing this gem!

Una altra bella vista di uno maritimo paessagio. Le rocce ed anche la vegetazione al'primo plano danno profondità alla composizione. La barca nel fondo da ritmo e dinamimso. Mi piace anche il bel cromatico contrasto tra il verde, il blue ed il color delle rocce.

I am glad you show the cliffs from another side. This place is so beautiful so unique.
Great composition with some green vegetation making a pleasant foreground and enhancing the palette of colors. The incoming boat adds some interest and action, I remember you have used that motif in the previous views from this place. Great processing the photo is so full of light, it is a pleasure to watch it.
