Photographer’s Note

Small village Corsican overhanging the fantastic valley of Regino, BELGODERE is close to ILE ROUSSE and CALVI.
In 1268 the marquis of Massa, very powerful feudal lord having assessed the qualities of the site from where the sight extends to the sea, made the decision to make strengthen this place which it baptized "BELGODERE", to arrange it definitively and to settle there his residence.
One can see several old monuments in this village.
Today the photograph published presents the ruins of the old convent of the servites which are at the Northern exit of the village, near the cemetery.
This old convent of the servites was immortalized by a very known song "the convent of Belgodere ".
