The turret of Submarine Casabianca is opposite from the commercial port of Bastia. It was launched on 2 February 1935 in Saint Nazaire.
The submarine escaped from the port of Toulon where the SS enters the city on 27 November 1942. Tracked by aircraft of the Luftwaffe, he succeeded in winning the high seas, through the Mediterranean and makes a triumphant entrance in the port of Algiers on 30 November.
