Photographer’s Note

The LAMA forms part of the family of camélidés is of average size, smaller than camel and dromedary. It largest is camélidé of the New World: weight 80-120 kg, height with the garrot 1,25 m. It does not have a bump. Its longer ears and its feet more split than the camel. It is a little larger than the guanaco, it is equipped with callosities for the knees and the chest. The fleece is long and thick. The dress varies much. That was photographed on the site of Rivetted Bella or the owner makes l?élevage of it to clean his grounds of the abundant maquis.

Distribution: Spangled and alpacas live in the Andes in South America equipped with a herbaceous alpine vegetation: Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia. They resist the seasonal malnutrition. In the high plateau of Peru, it is a domestic animal. The LAMA was introduced in Europe, CEI and in the USA.

Moeurs: It is very soft. It is defended while spitting of the saliva mingled with food.
