Photographer’s Note
This is a scan from a collection of photos of Saint Pierre et Miquelon. I went there to practice my French the summer I was 16. It is a fascinating place-partly like the Canadian province of Newfoundland and partly like what I would imagine 'mainland' France to be like. The landscape is rugged and beautiful and fortunately the weather was lovely when we were there (it is often cool and foggy I think). This is an image of a typical gravesite- I think this one is especially grand because it is the resting place of the town priest (if I recall). The graves are above ground- which is very different from where I am from. I liked the dome-like rock tomb and the bright white fence with purple flowers commemorating the body of someone clearly well-respected, so I took a shot. Not perfect, I know, but I've been meaning to share it here for some time. Hope you like it.

Hi Sarah,
Wonderful! The compo is very effective, for the graphics / geometry and the colors. The only thing less great s the white sky.
One needs to look carefully to notice the less perfect definition, something that doesn't harm much because of its somehow abstract style. Actually, the technical quality is amazing for a scan.
Regards, José.

Bonsoir Sarah
J'aime beaucoup la simplicité de cette photo. C'est une belle composition avec cette petite clôture blanche, avec les fleurs et le rocher. Belle profondeur également.
