I had three candidates for the today post, this one and two from WS. Finally I chose this one as funny. This man in his white shirt is made from one piece of oak and is the work by Stéphane Balkenhol from 1993 "L'homme sur sa bouée". I read there are two more sculptures from the same piece of oakwood but I couldn't find them. One can see reflections of the Amiens cathedral in the river Somme. Amiens has many interesting places to visit.
St-Leu is a part of Amiens north of the town centre. Its has many older wooden and brick houses and several canals. It was a poor part of town, but since extensive renovation in the 1990s it has become popular with tourists and students as a pretty area with a high concentration of cafés, restaurants and night clubs. Local culture is offered by Chés Cabotans theatre (puppet shows in the Picard language) and 'La Lune des Pirates', a concert hall.
Amiens Cathedral (a World Heritage Site) is the tallest of the large 'classic' Gothic churches of the 13th century and is the largest in France of its kind. After a fire destroyed the former cathedral, the new nave was begun in 1220 – and finished in 1247. Amiens Cathedral is notable for the coherence of its plan, the beauty of its three-tier interior elevation, the particularly fine display of sculptures on the principal façade and in the south transept, and the labyrinth, and other inlays of its floor. It is described as the "Parthenon of Gothic architecture", and by John Ruskin as "Gothic, clear of Roman tradition and of Arabian taint, Gothic pure, authoritative, unsurpassable, and unaccusable."
The Municipal Circus, also known as the "Cirque Jules Verne", is one of the few remaining permanent circuses in the world.
Like in other towns in france, bigger or small ones, I was amazed to see a lot of flower decorations, visible on photos in WS. here and

A most unusual artwork and all the more so for being seen in the midst of these wonderful reflections. A beautifully lit image with excellent colours and sharpness. Perhaps slightly over-exposed in the area of the wall to the right of the man, but not a major issue.

All three photo posted are wonderful, Malgo, yet chosenm the best to be in front.
At first I wanted to offer an inverted reflection by choice - but seeing the young lady stand on mid-water's, the possible up-side-down version is no longer apply.
Fabulous mirror on water, excelentlight condition and very well taken the opportunity.

Interesting scene. Weird but very attractive. I also like the title, it fits perfectly.
Have a good night.

A fine reflected view of this beautiful cathedral. The statue is an extra bonus in this picture. An interesting note and also some very good complementary pictures. I can see it was hard to decide which one you should choose.

It took me a moment to spot the subject of the title, but there he is in all his glory! The magician Dynamo did a great trick where he walked across the Thames, and it looked a little like this scene.
What a reflection you have there too, an impressive combination of the reflection of the architecture and a most unusual subject of the sculpture. He does look very real from this POV!
Thanks as always

Wonderful image with these so fascinating reflections, the middle of the river sculpture is a curious case, I love the two images of the WS, this city looks like a great place to visit.
The image has a rich color, very natural tones.
Excellent brightness and very good focus.
Very good job. I love it.
Enjoy a happy evening.
The option of visiting Andalucia, seems very successful, to me it is a region that I love and May is very good month.

Magical image with Amiens Cathedral mirrored stunningly in the deep blue water with human appearing statue walking on water, and textured walls surrounding.
PS: I rarely visit Yosemite in summer because of the huge crowds, and the waterfalls can be minimal.
Winter, early Spring, and late Autumn are my favorite times, and they always require advance reservations.
jcpix (8274) 2014-01-15 19:12
All three are wonderful, but for my own selfish reason I'm glad you decided on this as your main post...it's my favorite. :) An outstanding visual, even a tad bit of an illusion...it took me a quick moment to realize the imagery. This would be fun turned upside down for another twist, but this original composition is just fine "as is!" Great eye to see this for its potential, because it's sure made for an alluring photo. And yes, just where is he going anyway...something tells me, nowhere! ha
Have a great day ahead. Take it easy.

Swietny pomysl na oryginalna i ciekawa prace. Drewniana rzezba stanowi bardzo dobry lacznik miedzy swiatem rzeczywistym i odbitym. Kolor nieba w wodzie cudowny.
