Photographer’s Note

Situated on a mound overhanging Flanders, on a windy and clear place, the city counted 24 windmills at the beginning of the XXth century, producing flour and oil (of linen and rape). Current Kastel Meulen is not the one of origin, burned in 1911 but a similar mill built at century 17th, which come from the city of Arnèke where it was condemned to fall into ruin. It overhangs Flanders today, where the city and the tourist information office continues to make it work and visited.
