and girls girls...:-) He was actually eyeing her too, but took this detached expression when he saw the camera...

Difficult to keep my priorities and stay away for long:-). A few minutes to post a typical North Sea mood under a gentle sun.

This area is a paradise for walkers and surf-lovers.
Between the little resorts of Wimereux and Ambleteuse, a sandy footpath leads over the dunes of the nature reserve that has been established around the Slack estuary. Small, explanatory signs mark the spiky reeds and grasses, fleshy green plants and delicate flowers that naturally colonize the dunes, where they are not too heavily trampled.

The Parc Naturel Régional du Nord-Pas-de-Calais covers the coast south from Calais to Le Touquet, as well as the inland canals and marshes around St-Omer. The most striking feature of this coastline is the band of dunes that stretches for two kilometres (more than a mile) inland in places. Having survived the ravages of two world wars and haphazard building development, the dunes and their fragile vegetation are now protected within the park.

The shallow bays between Calais and the Somme are home for a rich variety of sea-birds and vegetation all year long, as are the cliffs, dunes and marshes of Gris-Nez, Blanc-Nez and the Platier d'Oye nature reserve. Cap Gris-Nez, half-way between Calais and Boulogne, ranks as one of the most ecologically interesting sites in northern France.
