Photographer’s Note

Today I post my 100th picture...

I simply want to thank you all my friends here, you know who you are:-) ...for the ongoing support, critiques, for sharing opinions and feelings, for the teasings:-), for the complicity, for all I have learned since through you and this site. The time spend here has ankered my newly discovered passion for photography and every minute here is a dear one. From each of you I have been inspired in one way or another...

I am looking forward to discover new people and pursue this adventure along with you.

My thanks also to my dear husband who is always supportive and shares my joys,(and disappointments) although we fight sometimes for the use of the PC:-)

Scanned negative from black and white film. The tones were soft so I enhanced the whites and decreased contrast in Photoshop Elements, that's about all. The picture was overexposed on the nose and the hands and difficult to correct for me, so I thought of using that, increasing the overexposition all the way.
The fur was imitation.

Alors je trouve l'idée très bonne, d'autant que j'aime ce type de photo où l'on ne retrouve plus que quelques traits et ici l'utilisation du visage est excellente ! Par contre je trouve dommage, que tu n'ais pas accentué tout de même un peu plus les tons sombres...

Hi Merline,
Congratulations for your 100th pic!. Your gallery is excellent. I recently discover it and found so many interesting ideas and play with forms and lights. This one experimentally is quite original for the intimate and almost magic effect; like if the woman was gradually coming through the light into a new space or dimension...

I'm so angry not having enough time to enjoy with my TE friends and their work and specially not being prompt enough to congratulate you for you 100th post. But I will not do that. I will congratulate you for all 100 posts. Now I'm part of this comunity for quite some time and there are some members I take with me to a photo trip everytime, members which inspire me with their unique work and their most joyfull and friendly nature. Thank you for being my inspiration! Seeing work like the one you've posted force me to go out there and try to do my best. It is so refreshing, new and inspiring. Her look appears like frozen in time, eternal look of magnificent eyes. Image of thousand emotions, image of strongly felt ambient, image of excellent presentation. To find such unique effort is the best gift to me. Thank you. And for the note, specially about fur. :)

le high key fonctionne bien ici, pour ton 100eme c'est une reussite j'ai jamais essayé ce genre d'images , est qu'il faut surexposer a la prise de vue??

oups , j'avais raté la 100éme , bon je vois que pour féter ça tu t'es offert ton propre cadeau vu que t'adore ces photos où il n'y a que quelques lignes...!
Moi j'aime aussi , mais je reitére la remarque de franck , il manque un poil sombre...

I have been away for a few days so I am having to add my congratulations on your 100th post rather late! This is a lovely, delicate piece of work, which successfully avoids being over-romantic and soft-focus. I do prefer the slightly increased contrast in the WS version. This image seems to point in the direction which your work is evolving - and it definitely IS evolving, over a relatively short time, which is a real achievement. Toutes mes félicitations Michèle! Quand je vois des gens qui fêtent leur anniversaire, mais surtout leur XXX photos sur TE, j'en profite souvent pour aller faire un tour dans leurs premières pages pour voir leurs "premières oeuvres". Et souvent, je reste étonnée. Et je l'ai été aussi dans ton cas. Un bon bout de chemin a été fait, n'est-ce pas? Des photos qui me semblent de plus en plus intéressantes, de plus en plus personnelles, avec une plus grande recherche. Et un travail en PP beaucoup plus soigné.
Le plus drôle, c'est que je ne suis pas très forte sur les tons très grisés ou totalement blancs de cette photo en particulier mais, il s'agit simplement d'un goût bien personnel. ;) Mais, il me fallait absolument te féliciter pour cette progression très visible! Bravo!

Hi Michèle,
What a beautiful and artistic portrait! The soft highkey effect works really well, creating the feel of a pencil or charcoal drawing (for that reason I personally prefer the main post to the WS). It's interesting that it was a technical problem with the original picture that prompted you to experiment and come up with this solution - there's certainly a lesson there!

The photo literally very fleeting, very strongly reminding the charming portrait performed with delicate movements of the pencil. Till one does not want to believe, that this is the photographic picture. Beauties and I would say: the factual work!

It seems that it was that day that I first saw your picture...100 already, you're a fast poster, but I have to add that you've improved a lot (in leaps & bounds) in this span when I know you..maybe I'm judgmental, but that's what I feel. You've created an unique style, a niche for yourself, bold in experimentation & play with light. What an experiment for your 100th! An excellent outcome indeed. But I did like the last line of your note...it's like finishing with a flourish, no...on second thoughts, with an anticlimax! It is really great to know you here Michele..and the pleasure was entirely mine.

Missed the ocassion, but did not miss the image going back in time through your collection. The PP, in the context, works perfectly, imo. Well placed face in the canvass (autoportrait ? ;-) - with a gaze that seems to go far, far away ?? ... moody for sure.
