Photographer’s Note

Floursies, from which the name comes from the construction of a temple dedicated to the goddess flora by the Romans, has a fountain with the foot of its church from where spouts out an invaluable water. To such a degree that the Romans undertook, at the beginning of our era, the construction of an aqueduct, to bring the water of Floursies until Bavay, famous for its thermal baths, via Dourlers, over an overall length of twenty kilometers.

Today still, one sees that and there vestiges along the layout. But construction the most remarkable residence the fountain. It was christianized as of the High Age Means and dedicated to Eloi saint, named with évêché of Boundary-line then of Turned. Moreover a statue of the monk accompanies the fountain.

This basin 2,90 meters in diameter, surrounded of a stone bench, makes the happiness of the hikers who like to be refreshed there. The beverage although millenium, preserved its gustatory qualities and still runs out with meadows of 100 m3 per hour.
