This is the intersection Boulevard Haussmann and Rue de la Chaussee d'Antin in Paris' city centre. See the link at the bottom of the note for the exact location.
This is the front of Galeries Lafayette, a 7 storey department store. Please have a look at the workshop pictures here and here for photos of the inside.
Galeries Lafayette is a chain of department stores with many branches across the nation. There is also one outside of France in Berlin, Germany.

A most amusing posting!
Great colours, too-perfect details -- this is real life now in Paris, I guess -- so much for my romantic imagination

You have dramatic perspective, Gilbert, and you have placed the focus of attention nicely to the right of center. It looks just like it did when I live in Paris, except for the hoarding and the models of cars in the street. The colour is rich and somber. But, I suspect that a touch more lightness and contrast would lift it just a bit. Regards Kevin

A well composed shot of this interesting Paris street. Your perspective is very well chosen and there is good dynamism in the foreground. Perhaps it could be a little brighter...If you don't mind I will do a WS. Cheers.
