Photographer’s Note

The chapel of Saint-Forget was set up as parish in the XIIth or XIIIth century and placed under the patronage of holy Gilles. Situated in an enclave of the park of the castle of Dampierre for the XVIIth century, the building underwent numerous alterations. Inside, the protected vestiges testify of a Romanic construction whereas the discovery, in 2002, of a fresco brings a new indication to its history. This last one could, indeed, date the high Means-age.

Cemetery
Attached to the church, the small cemetery of Saint-Forget protected a picturesque character. A cross of cemetery sculptured of the XVIth century presents a scene of the Passion of the Christ. Farther, the grave of a friend of the duke of Windsor, draped by a festoon of white marble eternal flowers, adds a romantic note to the timeless beauty of places
