Photographer's Note
After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, it was proposed to construct a church to the Sacred Heart on Montmartre. Although originally the fund raising was by public subscription, in 1873, the National Assembly declared its construction to be a state undertaking. Of the 78 entries in the competition for its design, the one chosen was by the architect named Abadie. He was already well known for his restoration of the St-Front Cathedral in Périgueux.
The plans for the new basilica called for an edifice of Romano-Byzantine style, inspired by models such as Saint Sophia at Constantinople, Saint Mark's at Venice or Ravenna. The first stone was laid in 1875. Abadie himself died in 1884 with only the foundation having been completed.
Completed in 1914, it was not consecrated until 1919 after WW1 had ended. The final cost was 40 million francs. Since 1885, there has been perpetual adoration and worship within.
The interior of the church contains one of the worlds largest mosaics, and depicts Christ with outstretched arms. The nearby bell tower contains the ``Savoyarde''. Cast in Annecy in 1895, it is one of the worlds heaviest at 19 tons.

A composição é interessante, mas precisava de
mais definição/brilho!

Very good note, and I love the sky here, the white/blue contrst is exellent. Though the church is distorted I don't mind I think it makes it look huge. Good work Marco.

Magnificent big building! Very interesting note. Beautiful colours in the sky with good clouds to make it interesting. The leafless trees in front don't obscure too much of the detail on the building in the back. Good capture.

very nice photo - I know from own experience that it ain't easy to get a nice perspective on sacre coeur without too many tourists on it! well done.

The POV, as well as the perspective, are perfect. Colours are much to saturated though, cyan in particular. The DOF could also be better (people on the bottom right are slightly out of focus). Interesting note.

I see - you use rather powerful dose of ContrastMask or similar Photoshop method. This is OK for me as it makes the picture more expressive! Otherwise it would be just grey...

Ponto de vista excelente com a distorção da geometria a criar uma sensação de imponência no edificio. Gosto do contraste e das cores embora um pouco menos de saturação na área do céu (especialmente no topo direito) dar-lhe-ia um ar mais suave e natural.

Hi Marco. In your last pictures you make it your business to display the sky in a dramatic way. In this it serves as an xcellent backdrop to this famous church which is rendered in highly saturated (but not to much) colours. Thru this and your fine PoV the result is an awe inducing church. Te note is excellent. Great job.

Great sharpness and sky. I wonder what a bit of perspective correction would do? I like the way the green copper(?) statues stand out.

Amazing sky Marco! The cathedral is so detailed and perfectly sharp. The point of view is excellent and does not create any distortion of the cathedral.
Well done and thanks for sharing!

Wonderful job: this church being at the very top of a hill makes it difficult to take, you made good use of the sky as a background.

Very beautiful composition, the postprocessing and the camera angle reinforce still a little more the crowned side of the building, I find just that the unit misses a little sharpness.
Very good job Marco.

Very nice catch of this famous church, Marco. Good shooting angle to have the crowd seated on the chairs at the right, and very effective post-work on contrast. Interesting notes, too, very good.

I assume you did some postprocessing here. What you did, I don't know but the result is great. Anyway, tastes differ, but I like it.

A good point of view of this classical monument, it puts emphasis on the size of the church.
The sky is perfectly exposed, and brings a good contrast with the building.

O ceu está maravilhoso em contraste com a cor e os detalhes da construção. Os detalhes azuis das esculturas está muito interessante.
Saudações Marco.

Hola Marco:
Magnificent composition, the tree adds a special touch to the image, the bottom is spectacular, I like the delicate aspect of the illumination a lot, very in agreement with the stateliness of this beautiful work of the architecture. Excellent composition, I like your pictures a lot. Saludos Cordiales. *Ninfa Urania*
