Photographer’s Note
Did you know that first lamp posts in Europe were placed in Paris in 1667 in accordance with Louis XIV 's order to have oil lamps in the main streets of the city? This phenomenon immediately became very trendy and other countries adopted the tradition.
Later though, in the turbulent years of the French revolution lamp posts served as scaffolds and thereby symbolized the collapse of the old police regime. With time though, the guillotine becomes a more often used tool for executing the enemies of the revolution.
Now, luckily for all the French, lamp posts are used just for providing light, and decorating the city.
Good.

Very nice picture, the colors and texture of the sky are remarkable. The history behind these lamps also is very interesting. Appreciations!

Hi Saule
Beautiful street lamps. And warming evening sky.
Maybe you ought to wait a little later to capture the sky evening effect in full force and full warming color.
Well done, Saule.

This picture is really fantastic. For someone coming in Paris like a tourist, you perfectly captured the atmposphere of the city and this is remarkable.
My congratulations for a superb image.

hi saule, a good one, if paris could be shown in a "different" way - it must be this, great compo, well exposured, maybe i'd play with simpler frame but its just a minor detail (which probably is only my problem :-))
best wishes, jerzy

Hello Saul
Beautiful picture with wonderful soft light. the perspective is really good with the clouds & the diagonal-ish building. I think you've compressed this hot a bit too much at 88KB. Some vestiges are visible on the closest lamppost. Use upto the max. available 200 KB
Nevertheless a wonderful shot

Angshu

Hi Saule,
lovely, moody composition - pity the lamps are still off... in spite of late evening (?)
