Source WIKIPEDIA: Commissioned by the President of France François Mitterrand in 1984, it was designed by the architect I. M. Pei. The structure, which was constructed entirely with glass segments, reaches a height of 21.6 metres (about 71 feet); its square base has sides of 35 metres (115 ft). It consists of 603 rhombus-shaped and 70 triangular glass segments.
"We don't often see B&W from you" has written a TE member. I learned photography in 1965 and developped my first B&W largements in 1967, so now I know when the light creates lines, surfaces that B&W could be better than a color picture; this is the case here the curves of the shadow of the tourists contrast with the straight lines of the famous pyramid.

Great monochromatic interpretation of this popular place. The girls with the umbrella and their shadow create eye-catching foreground.

Le traitement noir et blanc est de toute beauté, très élégant.
Le reflet du soleil sur la paroi de la pyramide attire peut-être un peu trop le regard, mais l'ensemble reste de très bon niveau, plaisant à regarder.

Ah, I recognise this place! The last time we were here (about 12 years ago), it was stormy and raining very heavily but the Louvre was closed because the staff were on strike for a day, so we had to continue our walk in the rain and got very wet. How nice it would have been to explore the wonderful paintings indoors that day!
Well, black and white certainly works very well here, probably on account of the extremely strong contrasts because of the brilliant sunshine and also because you have taken this contre jour (as we say in English!).
Your composition is excellent, the "graphic" pyramid making a fine background while the two girls with their white umbrella are perfectly placed in the frame. The strong shadows of the people on the ground are very effective too.
Fabulous strong light, contrasts and tones, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

Une excellente photo d'architecture en NB,j'aime bien l'angle choisi et les ombres au sol.

It s good to turn photos to B/W, that way they are timeless, like the sky color and more the long shadows given by the presence of people
Bien fait, merci

Molto bella questa tua immagine! Mi piace molto come hai composto, anche in verticale. Il bianco e nero caratterizza la celebre piramide della piazza del louvre e aggiunge fascino alla foto.

Hello Claude, I was so long time ago that there was no this pyramid. I do not like the idea but it looks fascinating on some photos. Excellent composition here and good choice with b@w. Attractive shadows. Of course, Chinese under umbrella :).
You learned photography already in 1967? woow. No wonder your photos are excellent.
Warm regrads MAlgo

Wonderful shot from a nice angle and the mono suits the impressive structure in a difficult lighting situation. I must admit that the glaring glass is the last thing to look at but somehow the strong conttast grabs attention instantly. Like the way the characters mingling around with hard shadows but this wouldn't be half as good without them and the banding in the sky effect is just great. Great capture, Congrats

B/W photography is usually all about how good the light is. This is a great subject for b/w with interesting light and shadow areas. I like the people in picture contrasting with the graphic architecture. The long shadows of the people in the FG fill the pavement space very well.
Kind Regards, Ann

This is a superb presentation of this well-known point on the map of Paris. Like it due to the well spotted scene and creative way of composing. Well done!

Black and white as a superb choice, emphasising the mesmerising structure of the pyramid and also the shadows thrown by the tourists under the umbrella. I also really like your choice of a vertical frame, adding depth and a real artistic touch to this already excellent street photography scene.
Well done, I like it a lot!
