Go ahead, do it…I dare you!
Time for some plain ‘ol stupid amusement with todays picture. :) This is obviously not going to win any style points, and quite possibly any points at all (understandably so)…but hey, I thought I’d have a little fun after a rough week at work. Got you to stop and take a look, yeah…even if it’s completely out of sheer, morbid curiosity for this monstrosity of a sandwich.
Learning about the world through photography…and what’s one of the best ways to learn about different countries and cultures? Why, through their food of course.
Now many of you already understand my affection for France, so this is by no means taking a cheap shot…it’s simply done in jest. Besides, there are plenty of foods here in the U.S. that I’m sure have turned a few stomachs sideways.
For a country so well respected and world renowned for its cuisine, how could this possibly happen? Oh, the horror…say it ‘aint so! When I saw this footlong battleship in the display case of a café, I just couldn’t resist snapping a shot.
I’m rather plain when it comes to food, pretty much a “meat n’ cheese” kind of guy myself…but this is even a bit too far gone for my likes!? For all I know, it could be some sort of delicacy…but I wasn’t about to tangle with it and find out. I purposely composed this shot so that my feet were visible at the bottom of the frame to make a link with the “link”, as I can only imagine that’s exactly what it tastes like. hehe
Thanks for stopping by.

this is exactly the view I need now before my breakfast:)
Isn´t a profanation of good American hot-dog for You?:)
Ok.now seriously-it doesn´t look as tasty as the hot-dogs I ate in Chicago(another reason to visit it agian)and definitely not something French cousine could be proud of:)
Take care my friend

Hi Jason, Oh no.... I will not eat it. By no means. I am trying desperately to improve my BMI. I would prefer just fresh Paris baguette or Crocque Monsieur for breakfast.
I see you are wearing sandals, like me :).
Amusing note and photo, good start of a new day with some laugh.

not surprised to see your name on this post! Not a lot you can say about this image really other than it is something that your mouth would enjoy but your body hate! Make of that what you will........:-))))
Have a great weekend - B.

Good that I see this pic. after lunch, Jason.
Hope this was tastefull...
Usually I do not post food's photos, just because it is not possible to convey the taste and smell through.
Have a nice weekend,

On a presque envie de briser la vitre et de se saisir de ce sandwich à deux mains. Il pourrait bien nourrir deux personnes au moins. Les reflets donnent un drôle de résultat.

At least you had the good taste not to step on this delicious looking hot dog :-). We probably learn more about France from this picture than from many photos of churches or palaces. Like for instance that the French seem to eat their hot dogs with a lot of melted cheese, which looks unusual to me but is probably finger-lickin' good (or is that expression reserved for chicken?).
All the best,

Only a hungry man could make so attractive photo of a hot dog. Excellent contribution to the Food theme, Jason. I know a lot of people don't like fast food but sometime we could be so hungry and similar simple culinary dish would be just a delicious! ;)
p.s. I will write to you tomorrow by e-mail.

What a fabulous photograph and what a great note you have written!
We usually think of France as the place to find and consume the most delightful and elegant dishes because the French are just so more refined than we are with their fabulous food and gorgeous wines. But to be faced with this! Geez!
I rather suspect that whoever stuck this hideous and frightfully calorific hot dog here, dripping with thick cheese, must have been thinking about catering for the Brits visiting Paris - or, perhaps, even the Americans! Surely no self respecting Parisian would dream of devouring a thing like this? It must surely have been made for a "delicate" British or American palate!
Funnily enough, as I sit at my computer, this actually looks quite enticing - and, with a few lashings of tomato ketchup and mustard, I could eat this damn thing right now! :o)
A brilliant posting for TE, well seen and very well taken and with a fabulous note!

I must admit I have mixed feelings (negative mostly)about this sandwich and the way you are presenting it, undermining the common perception about the food options in France. The way you have photographed it reminds me of items displayed in glass boxes in museums:) I think that as viewers we are observing it with the same incredulous curiosity while searching nearby for a tag that explains:) The more conformist and conservative sandwiches fill some space discreetly, the reflection of your feet and camera add a surreal touch. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Quel horrore! A hotdog in France, the second home of food! Ooky. Although must admit I do like a good cheese dog every now and again. This one looks a little...errrr lon in the tooth. Good spotting, did you partake? Ai hope there was no food poisoning after it. Anyway, a good macro/food shot. Thanks for sharing.

Would I eat it? Yes I would. I agree it's not the most beautiful of foods and I ant e it waking down the catwalk anytime soon, but hey, lots of food is not particularly nice looking but is still quite tasty. I'm a fan of baked liver, so I can't talk :) Oddly enough I didn't even notice your feet in the shot til I read your note so its definitely an eye catching food.
Needs onions though,

Tu sais ou j ai mange les meilleures hot dogs?
Au millieu du Central Park , New York , USA
Pres du central lac il y a a grill avec une petite place pour les manger
Ici, en Argentina , on les mange avec des frites toutes coupes en petites morceaux
Just read about the reflection of your feet, a good idea, funny one as are your last captures and notes
Just have a look at your site, serious and good photos
Merci, thanks for the good idea
Quite agree, best way to know a place is going to the markets

Your photo interrupting my TE photo viewing. I still did not have my breakfast and your photo makes me very hungry. I can already smell the sausage and melted cheese. I like the arrangement showing also part of you in the reflection.
Very well done my friend.
Wish you a nice Sunday.
macjake (52312) 2014-06-22 10:20
so this is some sort of cheese dog?
believe me man, i'm not a high class or high brow person when it comes to food - i can live off of can sphaghetti lol
what this thing is missing is some hotsause or ketchup, ketchup is the cure-all for any ailment lol
funny comment about placing your feet in the shot too.
Oh the food we encounter on our travels!
take it easy
rogerl (1544) 2014-06-23 13:09
Jason, you do seem to be specializing in bizarre photos lately! I was just in Scandinavia, and hotdogs like this are pretty popular in Denmark and Iceland. I actually had one (it did not taste like your feet, I suppose).
mcmtanyel (10605) 2014-06-23 20:59
The thumbnail looked more attractive than the full size photo. Looking at the TN, I thought this was some French pastry, but now I see it's some cheesy hotdog. Of course, my younger son would say, "Cheesy hotdog, where? Yum!" Interesting, a point well made.
Didi (55121) 2014-06-24 8:03
OK Hot dog is not a typic meal from Paris
But it's a an interesting composition
Try to found Sandwiches with Camembert or Jambon beurre :)
