Keeping up with my theme of smiles, it’s hard to argue the uncomplicated pleasure of a late summer afternoon along the banks of the Seine river. As you can see, there were many people out enjoying the warm sun and Parisian atmosphere…and why not! :)
I had been walking along for quite some time when I finally decided to stop and take a break, and as I looked around, this scene just kind of came together. Don’t you love it when an unplanned picture happens? I was more concerned with getting off my feet for a bit, but my eyes were still on duty. No clue what this couple were talking about, but it must have been a good conversation to produce that grin.
I feel pretty lucky, I think I’ve probably had more pictures which I’m happy with that have simply come by the way of doing virtually nothing but ‘stopping to smell the roses.’
Have a great day everyone. Thanks for stopping by.

I love moments like that one! I fully agree with your comment:)
The scene with a couple captured in the foreground looks superb attractive and interesting. They were in a quite good mood so the feeling is so cool. Well seen and spotted. TFS!

Hello Jason, How well you remember what happened four years ago. But it is the one reason of making photos - to refresh memories of nice moments. Very pleasant scene with nice view of the Seine in background.
For me nice moment now - I am sitting in the bus full of excitement before new trip.
Have a great day

I cannot argue that the couple seem to have lovely time and the girl’s smile says it all. Nice weather, pretty view and few precious moments – one cannot ask for more. I like the format you decided to use for this picture very much – it suits it well. The architecture on the bank of the river adds some charm to this scene. Good combination of photographing daily life and the city as well.
Thanks for sharing and all the best

Young couple enjoy the sunny afternoon along the Seine, and consumed a wine bottle, Jason - kept the lady smiling...
Nice taken the moment, you are very right - a scene to encounter in romantic Paris, as we see on the other side's bank.
Lovely, charming, and a fine place to stroll along.

Excellent snapshot well arranged in vertical format. Very typical picture from larger city along the river. In many other countries we can see people relaxing on the river side, especially during sunny warm days. The couple is enjoying the warm day near the river with bottle of white wine very much. I fell to join them. Well seen and captured.
Very well done.
Wish you a nice weekend.
P.s. Thanks for comments to my BF photo, you are right, not very typical, but you can find such small wetland area on many places in BF. Most of the well protected by local governmental authorities. There are not many castles in BF, this was rather poor and wild area in the past (not like rich Bavaria). But the nature is outstanding. Well preserved, not overcrowded forest area.

I wrote a critique for your photograph this morning and when I came, back this afternoon, to check for comments, I found it missing! How curious!
Anyway, here we go again!
I think the topic of smiles is a great one to choose. It makes the viewers smile, too! I cannot imagine anyone looking at this shot not raising a smile.
It is a well composed shot with a strong f/g triangle, a mooring bollard to join the couple, to make a focal number of three, great f/g textural details and a fine sense of depth.
Mind you, if I was sitting on the banks of the Seine, in the warm sun, with my partner at my side and a bottle of wine to share, I think I'd be smiling ... NO, I KNOW I'd be smiling!
Have a great w/e,

A good picture! The human presence is very valuable and makes the scene more attractive. Beautiful typical Paris architecture across the Seine.
holmertz (51180) 2014-05-09 10:30
This was one of those pictures that immediately attracted my attention among the many thumbnails. Maybe it was the vertical shape, maybe it was actually the composition. Yes I think it was. This kind of photo hardly ever fails. A strong human presence in the foreground, preferably no disturbing details (there aren't any here), and a nice background with a local flavour. If that human presence includes a nice smile, it's just great. (Actually, that bottle seems to be leaning dangerously. I hope the smiled lasted until the wine was finished in a proper way.)
Honestly, I have to say that practically every picture I have ever taken was unplanned. I never realized, before I joined TE, that lots of people seem to know exactly which photos they want to take when they set out on a journey. Which church, which palace, and from which POV and at what time of the day. If they know that so well it means others have already taken those pictures. So why bother? :-)
Well, just some silly thoughts, never mind.
All the best,

That's a beautiful contagious smile she has, and I would love to know the joke that caused it. A very relaxing scene, one that summons up exactly what you say in your note, warm light, beautiful city, good friends...what more does anybody need!
And I like your note too, it is so important to just stop and look around sometimes. I often think the world just rushes around, like in a video that has been speeded up and nobody ever looks at what surrounds them. Except the photographer of course, who is always ready to pounce and get that special moment. And I agree, you have a lot of those in your gallery!
Have a great weekend

The word is a charming spontaneous smile of the girl enjoying the Sena and wine
Quite true what you said, I also like to walk for instance, along the Sena and that way found so great views, best way to compose good photos with the buildings at the back, as happens here
Also the vertical format helps
Quite agree with Gert words
Very well seen
Cheers, aclamations (from google) with a glass of champagne

Beautiful and pleasant-looking picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week-end,

nice the see this couple to sit and talking carefree with the grin of the woman to be the eye catching of the scene. But i think that the bottle near her,is the reason of their smile. The view of the building on the backdrop completes perfect the whole scene.
Have a good WE,Danos

Very nice capture of this typical scenery in Paris; the city of love ! Perfect layout and pov.
TFS and have a nice weekend

I sure love it when "an unplanned picture happens" and we are only part of its creation and immortalization. We are a critical part, though, as it's us who notice it among other scenes, make the (quick) decision to interpret it, give it substance and share it:) You made the narrow vertical frame work so effectively here, there's a wonderful layout of interest, details are superb and the composition is so good that looks like it was meant to happen precisely in this way. You captured the fleeting scene interestingly and pleasingly, allowing the viewer to also enjoy the setting, the sunshine and the atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Hi, dear Jason,
This is very interesting and conceptual composition, Paris is one of the most romantic cities of the world. Good capture of Lovers with a bottle of (Burgundy?) wine on the bank of Seine. (Look, this is very tolerance country, they don't hide the bottle from police ;) )
Do you have some good news for me about your travelling?
Best wishes from hot Ural,
Didi (60588) 2014-05-14 9:00
Very interesting scene in Paris

I have a few iamges from donw here at the River Seine. This brings back so many wonderful memories. The stroll along the river and people enjoying casual moments donw here, tourists and locals alike. I like very much the inclusion of the two persons just enjoying relaxin moment, a bottle of wine even :) The light is ideal, with some nice sunshine and light clouds. All looks good, and the atmosphere is inviting and a touch or romantic mood.
