Not really something you see every day on the streets, but here I stumbled across a little mid-day massage therapy. From what I could make out by listening to people in the crowd, it was a large class of students who were offering/practicing their techniques for tips, basically a trial run during their courses.
I’ve always wanted to try a massage, but have that weird quirk where I don’t like the idea of a stranger kneading me like a hairy ball of dough!? I’m sure it feels great, but it’ll most likely never come about. I would probably just tense right up, which would defeat the entire purpose, don’t ya’ think? ha
Anyway, these folks sure seemed to be enjoying it, and why not…a nice warm day full of sun and relaxation, can’t beat it! I’m pretty sure though I heard one of the students tell their patron “Let me know if that’s too much pressure, I don’t want to torture you…there would actually be a charge for that!” :)

Howdy Cowboy or is it Hairy Dough Ball now? :-)
A beautifully original street scene this and an irresistible shot I bet! Looks wonderful and your panoramic presentation makes it all the more intriguing and original, giving us a wider view of the setting and obviously enjoyable massage frenzy.
Why you no join in big guy? I would have thought with your weary frame hurting after all the hasty retreats from "stink eye" confrontations it would have been most beneficial.
I went to a local massage parlour once, it was self-service ;-P.
Thanks for your comments on my Bridge Sunset - off to scare a few locals in the other part of town. Yep! Supertramp Song time------its raining again!

A hairy ball of dough, hahaha, forgive me for laughing but you have such a way with words. This is a weird scene though, it looks as if they are trying to break the world record for the most people getting a massage at the same time. You have captured this from a fine viewpoint too, the buildings behind are classical and elegant, while the people in front are all getting rubbed up and down.
I do like a massage now and then, and normally go to the Chinese therapy shops around the city for their great experience. Last time I went, the lady poked me in the side and asked me "why you so fat" Now that's what I call being direct!
Thanks as always for the laugh Jason, a cool post to make anybody smile.

A you wrote in the note, not an everyday scenery on the streets of a big city - but I'd not let a stranger touching me...
Nice applied with many people on the scene, colorful and vibrant.

Reading your note, I think I have the same feelings as you and I would almost certainly opt out - that would be me at the left side of the picture , just sitting on the kerb and looking on!
But this is a fine picture of daily life in the French capital and a lot of people are choosing to take advantage of these masseurs/masseuses and I hope they felt all the better for doing so.
A well composed picture with lovely light and colours, the fine buildings making a perfect background for the activities. Perfect exposure and stunning sharpness and detail too.

Masage at the street of Paris how very original, where exactly took place, that s the question...
Nice to watch not to be the subject, indeed most of people are watching
Quite agree with you, I am quite afraid of someone putting too much presion and hurting me and this non profesionals?, no merci pas a moi
Original, well taken, funny amd more
Congrats from the far South

a very well composed and interesting picture in which you are describing not only the scene but also the experience. Even without your useful and funny note, your wide point of view that includes therapists, blissful volunteers and fascinated by hesitant spectators, is absolutely comprehensive, clear and amusing. A study of human character indeed (yours and the viewers' too:) I like very much the natural light and colours. There are three fine layers in the panoramic frame and I love how the homogeneous, rigid buildings are juxtaposed to the random layout of relaxed or curious people below. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

what the heck man...now you're posting photos way too quickly I can't catch up? whats the hurry lol
just out of curiosity, have you tried counting all the windows in the bg? holly crow there's alot of them!
we don't have architecture like there do we...maybe in NY? even so, it wouldn't be this large, taking up city block after city block...amazing scene!
and about massages? Oh man...i have a funny story to tell you about a massage I had in Thailand...its certainly not PG, certainly not R, i can't mention it on here lol
Oh the memories...lol
oh yeah, almost forgot...cool post!

Very nice youth ambiance

Excellent street capture and great sense of atmosphere. An image can say so many things and this is always interesting to see persons doing things as depicted. I like to see some people sitting and enjoying the massage (never seen this before-not in Paris) while the others are following closely this activity. I think you were quite brave here. Great candid shot. I like the arrangement with nice buildings in background and also old type street lighting in foreground.
Very well done.
Wish you a nice, relaxing weekend.

I love the the two layered composition of this photo, the people in the f/g and the elegant buildings in the background. I am with you on the massage thing, that's why I never had one and don't know what I may be missing!
worldcitizen (6147) 2014-02-15 9:55
Hello again Jason,
Here's something I like; an everyday spot with something unusual going on. :-) I like all the Parisian architecture, and the fancy street lamp, with that massage-a-thon going on in front of it! I would have definitely let them knead me. :-)
serp2000 (35952) 2014-03-02 8:49
Hmm, I have never seen so massive massage on the street. It is really funny scene, but I prefer more relaxing conditions for it ;)
Ha! About ""Metal & Leather". Well, I had have some ideas for another means of these words )) But this photo reminds me Accept with their London Leather Boys, about the bikers, I think, no more ;)))
Best wishes my friend! Have a great Sunday!
I am going to sleep.

a nice and interesting frame here Jason. Love the path playing a different role. Really a nice moment captured and composed with great depth and sharpness. Those massive buildings at back completes a nice frame. Superb work. Tfs.
