In my quest of seeing & showing Paris differently, render well-known topics as fresh images....familiar landmarks from a not-so-common point of view....
I surely don't need to say anything about the tower you see in the distance...the Eiffel Tower which needs no introduction....but why the title...Paris, New York? I am sure viewers can decipher the reason themselves!
Riding the Metro to Javel, I had reached Pont Mirabeau from where I took this picture. The bridge is served by the Paris Metro stations Mirabeau and Javel - André Citroën.
The Statue of Liberty in Paris is located off the beaten path on the Ile aux Cygnes. It’s one-fourth the size of the real Statue of Liberty in New York, standing a little for than 72 feet tall (the actual statue stands 305 feet on Ellis Island). The replica in Paris was inaugurated on July 4, 1889 (to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution). The Statue of Liberty on the Ile aux Cygnes once looked east toward the Eiffel Tower, but now it faces west toward it’s larger (and much cooler) sibling across the Atlantic Ocean. The westward facing position actually makes the Statue of Liberty in Paris a little hard to enjoy. The replica is on the west tip of the Ile aux Cygnes, so there isn’t much room to go and see from the front of the statue.

Bonjour, cher Angshu,
La Tour Eiffel, la statue de la Liberté, la Seine, ça c'est Paris.
Jolie prise de vue.
Très bonne journée.

Dear dada, we are neighbour today. You shared here a nice shot of the famous tower. Like the off-centred composition. It seems to me the tower is a bit tilt towards inside, may be due to lens distortion (IMHO). Overall the composition is very good with those architectures at background. Colours are impressive. Bhalo chhobi. Tfs

Une belle image de la capitale française avec la dame de fer et la statue de la liberté, le tout très bien cadré
Bravo et bonne journée.

an intriguing title and one that explains itself once viewed full size. A superb composition that is perfectly balanced and an execution that is full of wonderful detail. Excellent!
Have a good week - Brian.

Ciao e buona giornata

I always appreciate your relatively rare uploads. They don't come often but they are always well composed and carefully taken. This is no exception. This is a fine and somewhat amusing combination of iconic landmarks. I am sure most people are not aware of this version of the Statue of Liberty. You have balanced the composition very nicely with a combination of vertical lines and a strong horizontal accent. Colours and sharpness are as good as always.

Having the main subject in opposite corner is a good idea to create the scene. The distance between the statue and the Eiffel tower is giving depth to the composition. The good luminosity is bringing out the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

I like very much this presentation. I am so ashamed I did not visit the statue of liberty in this spot. I have heard about it first time at a movie National Treasure, but the movie did not show the stue in the context so I was not sure where it was.
Great capture here combining both landmarks together in the frame.
In fact it reminds me my photo on TE which I took in las vegas which is titled Postcard from Paris and which presents the copy of Eifel Tower.
This one is similarly confusing I guess.
Lovely work, thanks for sharing,

Killing two birds with one stone, You have made used of the space efficiently to capitalise on the beauty of these famous icons. The perspective and viewpoint are superb aided by the array of rich colors and great depth that you achieved blessed by fine weather making this is indeed so pleasant to view. Awesome shot as always, Congrats. TFS

The picture of the Eiffel tower in itself is superb, the framing with the tower on the right hand border of the frame works really fine. But with the added bonus of lady liberty in Paris it is simply intriguing. I wasn't aware that there was a lady liberty statue in Paris as well, I knew of the one in Colmar from where the original first came.
have a great day
macjake (66510) 2013-09-18 15:31
very cool very cool :)
So how did you get the tall Eiffel Tower to stand so tall and straight? any corrective tilted done in post processing? I only ask because when you photograph such a tall structure in the horizontal compo there's bound to be some tilting.
love seeing the Statue of Liberty on the bottom left, and yes you have succeeded, as i've never seen this compo before!
excellent light and colors all around
nikkitta (17066) 2013-09-18 16:21
Congrats because is the first time I saw this two together, I knew there was a Liberty Statue in Paris, but not where
Great composition , greetings

Angshuman the World Traveler!
I will have a look at your Turkey's images, as I have been away from TrekEarth for a couple of months. But for the moment, I enjoy looking at your Paris photo.
There's a lot of empty space filled up by nice layers of clouds that creates a visual tension between both icons. I think that by placing the landmarks in the margins of the frame, this extreme composition offers an original presentation of well-known location.
Remembering our precious meeting in Delhi, where you've made us taste street food, I am curious to know if you have tried the equivalent in Paris, with Nutella crepes... :-p))
Cheers my friend!
ChrisJ (111548) 2013-09-20 5:50
Nice to see 2 familiar icons in one image. I would have liked more time in Paris, which deserves far more than a day or 2. Good sharpness and graphism and a nice blue sky. I like the layering of the clouds and the boat adds scale. Tfs!
mohammad_H (9896) 2013-09-20 9:27
Eiffel Tower at a right angle to your camera, background sky with beautiful clouds nice, eye-catching and has an interesting perspective, colors and light management Best wishes to you
Didi (60586) 2013-10-07 10:47
I was not busy last july
It was possible to make a meeting
Nice point of view on the city with an interesting diagonal between the statue and the top of the tower
Waylim (25496) 2013-10-11 21:20
Classic shot, excellent POV, Like postcard if we still use it. The statue of Liberty seem tiny in comparison to the Eifel Tower :) The square format work superbly here I like the placement of the tower and following the bridge over to the statue. Good quality shot. Wish I were there.
fotka (4305) 2013-12-03 6:19
Two great landmarks of two wonderful cities. Although Statue of Liberty is only copy in this composition looks gorgeous. I like how you place the Eiffel Tower with the river in the center and Statue of Liberty on other side. Good quality shot, well done!
tatadalou (7459) 2013-12-12 21:32
Small nod to these two famous monuments, even if one of them is a replica. The square framing fits very well, I like the positioning in two opposite sides of the two buildings, which reminds me of a dialogue.
