Same ol’...but Differently, a photo from Ile-de-France, North

Photographer's Note

In my quest of seeing & showing Paris differently, render well-known topics as fresh images....familiar landmarks from a not-so-common point of view....

I took this picture from under the central viaduct (viaduct is a bridge composed of several small spans) of the pont de Bir-Hakeim.

Formerly the pont de Passy, pont de Bir-Hakeim is a bridge that crosses the Seine River. The railway viaduct is supported by metal colonnades, except where it passes over the île aux Cygnes, where it rests on a masonry arch.

It is with this masonry arch that I tried to create a natural frame for the famous Eiffel Tower. On the left you can see the bronze statue called "La France Renaissante" (A resurgent France) created by Danish sculptor Holger Wendekinch.

I think you are succeeding in your quest to show Paris differently. I have never seen this Point of View before. It is well-composed, beautifully lit and coloured. Excellent sharpness, a superb post-card. Congratulations.

Hello Angshu,

I like your work of composition and the selection of the point of view to add a frame inside frame effect to focus the look toward Eiffel's tower.
As well, a good setting of the exposure to provide details in every area of the picture.

Hello Angshu - Thoughtfully composed with the arching bridge acting as the upper frame and the balustrade as the lower. What strikes me most about this shot is the glittering sunlight on the tower itself, it contrasts excellently with the rest of the composition. An unusual POV? Most certainly. Warm regards rosemary

This one is a grand view, the ambience of the photo is lifted due to the lovely light on the tower and in the distance. Clear sky, the statue in the fg and the arch of the bridge, all have added to your composition. Very nicely taken.
I visited Paris couple of weeks before you visited and have a picture which I am attaching as a workshop, hope you wouldn't mind.

Using the arch of the bridge to frame the Eiffel Tower is a good idea. The distance between the bridge and the tower is giving depth to the composaition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the Eiffel Tower. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Angshuman, It is a challenge to show something very familiar but from other POV, in his/her own way. I also try to do this (better or worse). Fine composition, very creative. Stunning colours and sharpness. we can see almost every part of the tower. Well done. Excellent composition.

the light, the colors and sharpness of this image are to a high quality level, the photo is very luminous and very attractive.
I like the sight of the Eiffel Tower that you offer us by means of this select-well framing, in which you have used cleverly the arch of the bridge for to create an architectural frame very effective graphically.
The lamp hanging under the arch adds a very nice detail to this magnificent composition, the image is very deep and very clean, and the sky decorated with the small clouds increases the great beauty of your photo.

As you rightly put, we don't always travel to exotic (whatever this term means)corners of the world. The skill is to present well-known places in a creative way. I totally agree.

The first features I noticed in your picture were its clarity and vivacity: You were very successful in using the nice light on the Eiffel Tour.

The clouds give a sense of depth and perspective, and without them the sky would be too blank, and the connection between the lower and upper parts could be lost, IMHO.

The composition is interesting and the viaduc's natural framing works well. Did you use any artificial light, a flash or a spot to highlight some details on the viaduc?

My only nit-picking is the presence of this lamp above. Since you couldn't destroy it by throwing stones, all I can think of, is to try to enlighten it a little bit more.

indeed a famous landmark from not so common point of view. I am really surprised as I thought I have seen the Tower from almost each possible angle and yet you found an excellent POV. The arch of the brigde provides a wonderful framing here. You had a lovely sky as well.

It's such an interesting shot to look at, a very inspirational indeed. well, i can honestly say that I've never seen this POV before, so i guess you can say that you've suceeded in your quest? how do you feel about it?
the post processing is very good, giving the tower a sweet golden glow.
the clouds are really important visually, they add a soft touch.
I enjoy the arched dridge atop the frame too,
