This is a view of the town hall in the 5th arrondissement in Paris during the Christmas season, seen from under the portico of the Panthéon across from the place du Panthéon. The view of the town hall illuminated in this way is one of the most memorable scenes of the season. In Paris, it seems that they do not have a tradition to decorate elaborately for the Christmas holiday. As I stood there, the sky above the town hall became bluer and bluer. The yellowish illumination of the town hall and the sky created quite a contrast.

The view through two great pillars is most amazing, Nobu. Also well managed with light, and contrast to blue early evening sky.
Fine mirror on pavenebt, and clear details collected.

Yes, dear Nobu, I agree with you, the light of the blue hour contrasts nicely with the yellow light that illuminates the town hall. I especially like how you've composed this picture, with the columns that enrich the scene. The lines of the floor add depth, and lead the eye on the interesting architecture of the palace. I must say that you do miracles with your scanner, it's really difficult to see perfect scans like yours. Sincere compliments, dear friend, have a nice Friday and a beautiful weekend!

Ciao mon cher Nobuccio-san
Ahh stupendous Blue Hour, the light is managed so magically. Excellent vertical cut, the white frame really lights it up and I like the black and white chequered pavement in the foreground. The details of this magnificent architecture in the background are just wonderful too. Lovely shot, dear friend, congratulations.
Amities et belle journee mon ami
PS: In Neapolitan (and Sicilian) dialect for nicknames or terms of endearment we add -uccio or -uzzo to the masculine names -uzza or -uccia to feminine names. You will see that Sicilian Peppe calls me Lisuzza and Sicilian Francesco calls me Lisuccia. Paolo calls me Diavolina which means "little devil":)
PS: I thought of you and Paolo yesterday as I cooked a combination of Japanese and Italian fo0d: Zucchini Flowers stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, gorgonzola and prawns and fried in a Tempura batter :)

J'aime l'originalité sur la vue de la mairie entre les deux colonnes, les lumières et les couleurs comme le bleu du ciel, bel avant plan avec les pavés et reflets, belle réalisation

Oh, I recognized this immediately! I photographed it from a different angle when I was there in December last year. It is a wonderful building and you are right, very memorable lighting for Christmas! The frame you have chosen of the silhouetted columns - plus the bright reflection on the stone with the worn squares in the foreground - brilliant, it could be a Christmas card, but a very classy one. I can just see the Christmas trees in front of the Pantheon...thank you for this lovely memory.

Just as I start thinking your photos from France could not get any better, you pull another rabbit out of your hat. This is spectacular depiction seen from the portico of the Pantheon. The neoclassical architecture is bracketed by a pair of massive columns, and dramatically highlighted by the reflections on the marble floor. This is a surpassing shot. The depth of field is accentuated by the high sharpness seen in the pavement in the foreground as well as in the distance. The light management could not be better.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,

I like the way your photographer's eye looks at France and its monuments. The photo skillfully consists with these dark pillars which bring to light the facade of the city hall. A photo at the good quality blue hour. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Once again you managed to get a different composition. I like the result, the way you used the columns to frame the illuminated buiding.

Hello dear Nobu-san
A finely framed view & a deft handling of exposure looking out from the shaded area. Indeed the contrast between the blue sky, the coolness of it contrasts well with the warm tones the light creates on the building. This is a fine blue hour shot indeed!
With Best Regards Nobu-san

Very grateful for his words, comment and congratulations on my 5th year in TE...
A beautiful composition of your archive. The POV is good choice and the parallel lines of evidence either on the ground and in the columns.Difficult under a picture of the various light intensities. With the use of a tripod the picture would have been much better, but on holiday you can not have everything:)
All the best and a Happy and Healthy New Year 2012,

Hello Dear Nobu,
Town hall is always a special place where many cultural events take place. I don't see any better way than this to show this beautiful place. I agree with you that the blue sky contrasts well with the yellow and red colors of the illumination. I like the way you have shown only the center part between these huge columns. The details are very clear and you have managed the light very well. A nice sharp image worth seeing many times.
With warm regards,
