The Loing Canal, has 53 km length, connects the Briare canal to Montargis to the Seine at Saint Mammès, via the river of Loing.
Loing, river of 160 km running out in the South/North direction, was not very navigable.
King Louis XV placed at the disposal 4000 workers for the construction .
The building site was completed in 1723.
Nowadays the canal is still attended by the barges transporting cereals; but also tourism has developed very well.
