Photographer’s Note

The Church: Dom Morin, large prior of Tool bags and historian of Gâtinais, fact of Jean II of Egreville the founder of the first Saint Martin's day Church which it makes build starting from the vault of Stronghold at the same time as it rebuilds the city devastated by a terrible fire in 1282.
This first church connected certainly the Vault of Stronghold to the gross square tower (which shelters the porch today) which preserves its character of XIIIème. This gross tower was to then be used as belfry.
One found the vestiges of the primitive roof out of wooden during work. Little practices, somewhat reached during the one hundred year old war, unfavorable to maintenance, the church was rebuilt under Louis XI and was devoted on February 12th, 1483.
Rebuilt starting from the primitive church by adding dimensioned bottoms to it, it is what explains the dissymmetry of architecture where one finds Romanesque art, it at that time that was created the current porch, is always classified Historic building.
The arrow was built later in XVIème century certainly by Anne OF PISSELEU (even frame that the market). Its base has just been completely given to nine afterwards of work of an high-tech.
The church was then restored in 1821. During the revolution, various profanations will touch the church and its crypt which is now empty. Some tomb stones were saved: One out of marble black is that Of AYMOND Of EGREVILLE and of his wife, it is classified and is used as furnace bridge with the bottom of the church.
