Photographer's Note

Rouen cathedral is a roman catholic gothic cathedral. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Rouen and Normandy.
Completed in 1880, it is a 151 m high monument.

The most famous paintings of the cathedral were produced by the impressionist painter Claude Monet, who painted a large series of paintings of the building. Five of the cathedral paintings are in the musée d'Orsay in Paris..

Rouen Cathedral narrowly escaped destruction in world war II, it took several direct hits from bombs in 1944, which narrowly missed destroying key pillars.
