Photographer’s Note

The Marne, river taking its source on the plate of Langres in Haute-Marne skirts the Champagne coasts calmly; it joined the Seine near the doors of Paris. The floods of the Marne were sometimes sadly famous. To regularize the level of water, three tanks were built: The Seine tank, known as Lake of the Forest of Orient and Temple lake, finished in 1966.
The Aube tank, finished in 1990.
The tank of Marne, said lake of Der Chantecoq, inaugurated in 1974.
The layout of the plan of the lake of Der implied the disappearance of 3 small villages:
Chantecoq, Champaubert-aux-Bois and Nuisement-aux-bois.
Only the church of Champaubert was preserved.

I am located at the locality of L'Etape which forms part of the commune of Mathaux in front of a pizzeria to have my diner, vis-a-vis with the Lake of the Temple close to the Orient Lake.
At this precise place there was more than 120.000 migratory birds last week:((

very nice frame .I really like the composition.We have a lake in Iran called Steel it has the same scenery .Exactly!!

Me gusta mucho esta foto, tiene muy buena composicion con los arboles dentro del agua debido a la crecida del rio y los colores estan estupendos. Buen POV.

Ca fait beaucoup de degats les inondations, mais ca fait aussi quelques bonnes photos!!
Superbe ce pre et les arbres les pieds dands l' eau... couleurs et compo impeccables (a mon avis!)

Hi Didi,

I like a silence here,peaceful view,great iformative about the river,well captured and composed,seems you was not lucky for a piece of cloud in the sky ! :)
The colors are fine and real as a great point for the shot.

contraste avec cette verdure et ces arbres les pieds dans l'eau, beau cadrage, quand tu parles d'inondation tu sais que ca me connais et ici l'eau de la marne a l'air vraiment haute puisque les arbres normalement sont a sec

Bonjour Didi,
Tu n'as décidémment pas eu de chance pour la météo et les oiseaux! :o(
C'est dommage car avec un beau ciel bleu, je pense que cette photo aurait eu beaucoup plus d'impact, sur tout avec ce vert au premier plan. Ces arbres, les peids dans l'eau semblent accepter leur sort avec dignité.

Many thanks for your interesting note, I learn again something of France, my south neighbour. Indeed Saïd the sky show here very much misty and low clouds depth to the sky. Through the low angle and the green foreground make your picture a nice composition

Dommage, Didi, pour le rendez-vous manqué avec les oiseaux. Cette photo est bien composée avec peu d'éléments. Si ce n'était les feuilles naissantes et le vert de l'herbe on croirait un paysage d'hiver.

Tient... j'aurais cru que c'était plutôt en matinée à voir la lumière vraiment très bien saisie. Ta composition me plait beaucoup avec ce bleu, ce vert et ces saules vraiment magnifiques.

Sorry you missed the birds. You have still captured a very tranquil scene. It seems unusual how these trees are still affected by the flood, but they do provide you with something different. I like the way the pale sky gives way to the mid-tone water and then the whole image is anchored by the strong colour of the grass.

Hi Didi,
A well comoposed shot of tis fascinating river. I like the generous foreground swathe of lush grass on which there are good shadow effects. The trees in the river are unique and intriguing. The sky is a little bland, but you managed the light well. Well seen and captured, Didi.

Hello I liked your other picture of these trees and I like this one too. It's a strange sight. Why do the trees grow in the water but not on the land? Thanks for bringing this unusual scene to us.

Ces arbres les 'pieds dans l'eau' me rappellent une image que j'avais envoyée voila pas mal de temps. J'aime bien les contrastes entre le vert saturé des herbages du premier plan et l'arrière plan plus pâle.
La composition est simple et soignée.
