Hello my friends

I just came back from a two week resting and working on the french countryside. A friend of mine bought an old farm in a little village in Haute Marne not far from Langres and he could use some help (for the next 20 years he can).
I spent some time helping and resting and enjoying life with my family. And of course I took some pictures.
This is the little village of Arbigny-sous-Varennes where a lot of the old farms are abanded and in very bad shape. It is a poor region with agriculture as main way of living and more old than young people.
Although the countryside is very beautiful there is not much tourism.

Welcome back from your trip; it sounds like an interesting one. I like the POV from the valley looking upwards, and the buidings on the hillside. Such lovely green colours; it could be England :D

Ótima composição dessa paisagem linda e tranquila; as cores são muito atraentes, gosto muito do detalhe dos cavalos. As casas quase que todas no mesmo tom e lá em cima não poderia faltar a Igrejinha. Muito bom Gerrit!

Dag Gerrit,

Blij u terug tezien na uw vakantie, uw vriend zal nog wat mensen moeten uitnodige voor zijn restauratie werken, maar dit heeft u een zeer mooie foto opgeleverd met dit mooie dorp in de achtergrond, een strakke kleurverzadiging, het ziet er daar zeer mooi uit.

I like a lot this landscape (and knowing that there is little tourism makes still more inviting to me).

Grâce à vous j'apprends à connaître cette région que je connais mal.
J'aime l'ambiance qui se dégage de cette composition. Tout semble calme. Le cadrage est excellent avec cette vue qui part du sol jusqu'au ciel.
J'aime également l'habitat rural et cette photo me plaît beaucoup.

this one is an image of an pleasant and calm landscape. The range of green is very varied, the houses and the church of the town in the middle of the meadows and forests are left fantastic, the illumination is good, and there is great sharpness in the image.

Hi Gerrit,
Well composed with very pleasant hues and tones. I like how you used the horses to give some balance to the foreground. The orange roofs really are quite enhancing and I like the various layers of interest as the eye moves inward. The church steeple seems a little unusual and also provides a different hue, giving it prominence. It was wise to render just a slice of the sky, as you have such an interesting landscape to work with here. As one who walks and enjoys this type of countryside, I always find it amazing that so few tourists bother to come and enjoy it... Very well captured, Gerrit.

Een mooi dorpje tussen al dat groen Gerrit, leuk tegen de helling van de heuvel aan met de weide en het paard op voorplan ... een ietsje bijsijden van onder is een optie hier voor pano gevoel en paard op sterker punt te brengen.

A comprehensive summary of rural France here, Gerrit, and what a composition! I like the upward view from the bottom of the valley with these three horses providing a foreground point of interest. And a pleasant green/brown colour contrast.

Bonjour Guerrit, c’est une bien charmante bourgade que montre cette image dans laquelle domine une multitude de teintes vertes au nuance changeantes, nuance auquel vient s’ajouter ce dégradé de toiture rouge, ainsi que le rappelle de ce coloris rouge par la présence de ces trois superbes chevaux, il est dommage que telle beauté soit laissée à l’abandon, la grande profondeur d’image nous laisse apercevoir d’innombrable petit chemin de Promenade, bien amicalement

I love the green tones here and the way that they really contrast with the red tones of the roofs.

Hi Gerrit,
The countryside is beautiful and you have framed its beauty well; the horses gracing in the foreground, the red tile roofs, the rounded steeple(?) of the church all against the hillside of fields. I will bet that your friend will look back on his decision to buy that farm as one of his best investments. Your friend is lucky to have such a good friend!!
