Photographer’s Note
I wanted to find a cute story for this one so I looked for origins of Teddy Bear. Well... I'm quite disappointed as it's not that cute but here it is :
According to Wikipedia, there are two stories:
- A German version: " Margarete Steiff was a German manufacturer of toys, who produced cuddly toys since 1880, with the rests of tissues of her uncle's factory. In 1902, she is convinced by her nephew Richard Steiff, employed on her company, to create a cuddly bear, who according to him would have a similar popularity for boys and girls.
- An American version : "The name Teddy Bear comes from November 1902 American President Theodore Roosevelt's hunting trip to Mississippi. There were several other hunters competing, and most of them had already shot something. A suite of Roosevelt's attendants, cornered, clubbed, and tied to a willow tree an American Black Bear after a long exhausting chase with hounds. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested he shoot it. He refused to shoot the bear himself, deeming this unsportsmanlike, but instructed that the bear be killed to put it out of its misery, and it became the topic of a political cartoon. Morris Michtom, saw the drawing of Roosevelt and the bear cub and was inspired to create a new toy. He created a little stuffed bear cub and put it in his shop window with a sign that read "Teddy's bear" (Teddy being the nickname for Theodore). The toys were an immediate success".
Anyway, little Malo (according to the desperate screams of his friend/cousins who were trying to preserve their sand castles from his feet !) was decided to go for a swim with his Teddy Bear !

Coucou Marion
Comme c'est adorable ! Craquant...

Amicalement,
Marianne

Salut Marion

Hi Marion, Ironically I saw this image due to the forum item stated by polonaise. Don't know how one could see this and not smile, especially with the funny title. Composition is good, as is sharpness and colour. A good post IMO. cheers, Steve

Bonjour Marion,
Normally I don't respond to photos of children, but this photo was unfairly singled out as a non TE photo. Nevermind that. I like the lines of water and dirt, with blurred birds and seashells. There is no problem with this photo. you should not have to defend this nice photo.

Hello Marion,
I came upon this photo through the forum posted (unfairly) by TE member polonaise and noticed your response to him. Only you can know whether this violates the TOS -not George. Neither you nor any other TE membber deserves to be humilated in a public forum. If George has an opinion opn your picture then he should have left a critique with you. I like it. It is a nice moment well captured.I like the composition with the child to one side in the frame so that we can see the shore. Nice light too.
regards
Bev

Hi Marion,
Well, I came across this beautiful and sweet photo
thanks to the post in the forum from "Polonaise"...
I think it was unfair to single this one out--or any for
that matter.
You've captured a really sweet moment with this little boy
and his bear--the composition is excellent and with great
definition in the f/g. The layers from the different sand tones
add a lot of contrast. Blurred f/g very appropriate as well.
Very nice work! --- After all we should all thank George for
"taking us" to see your lovely photo!
Warm regards,
Maryori :)
