Photographer’s Note

I wanted to find a cute story for this one so I looked for origins of Teddy Bear. Well... I'm quite disappointed as it's not that cute but here it is :

According to Wikipedia, there are two stories:
- A German version: " Margarete Steiff was a German manufacturer of toys, who produced cuddly toys since 1880, with the rests of tissues of her uncle's factory. In 1902, she is convinced by her nephew Richard Steiff, employed on her company, to create a cuddly bear, who according to him would have a similar popularity for boys and girls.
- An American version : "The name Teddy Bear comes from November 1902 American President Theodore Roosevelt's hunting trip to Mississippi. There were several other hunters competing, and most of them had already shot something. A suite of Roosevelt's attendants, cornered, clubbed, and tied to a willow tree an American Black Bear after a long exhausting chase with hounds. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested he shoot it. He refused to shoot the bear himself, deeming this unsportsmanlike, but instructed that the bear be killed to put it out of its misery, and it became the topic of a political cartoon. Morris Michtom, saw the drawing of Roosevelt and the bear cub and was inspired to create a new toy. He created a little stuffed bear cub and put it in his shop window with a sign that read "Teddy's bear" (Teddy being the nickname for Theodore). The toys were an immediate success".

Anyway, little Malo (according to the desperate screams of his friend/cousins who were trying to preserve their sand castles from his feet !) was decided to go for a swim with his Teddy Bear !
