Photographer's Note

This is an exceptional collection which is offered to visitors when displayed in beautiful countryside the priory of Sainte Gauburge ... More than a priory is a hamlet that was built by wrapping around the Priory...

The priory was founded around the year one thousand by the lords of Bellême then passes into the hands of the monks of Saint Florentin Bonneval before being entrusted to the royal abbey of Saint Denis which will offer some very fine architectural.

Remarkably preserved, the priory was remodeled several times, the thirteenth, the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. Enjoy the beautiful vaulted rooms, the home of the prior, the stair tower as part of visits that are offered every weekend.

Bonjour Jean-Charles,

Belle image de ce prieuré qui impressionne notamment par l'aspect massif de son clocher, un aspect assez étonnant en plaine campagne. Le cadrage est idéal avec un bel équilibre dans la façon dont l'edifice se découpe dans le très beau bleu du ciel.

Effectivement, cela doit donner un choc lorsque l'on arrive de voir cette masse au milieu d'un champs. C'est construit pour durer longtemps. La prise de vue quoique classique est très efficace.

Bonjour Jean-Charles,

La distance entre les champs et le prioré donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de l'architecture du prioré Sainte-Gauburge. La lumière de l'après-midi fait ressortir les couleurs. Bon dimanche.

Bonjour Jean-Charles,

Tout d'abord, bravo pour la note très explicative et utile.
En ce qui concerne la photo, je la trouve très belle. Le point de vue met bien en valeur l'édifice religieux et les couleurs sont saturées comme je les aime grâce au filtre polarisant.
J'aurais peut-être essayé de recadrer la photo en coupant un peu de ciel (en coupant au-dessus du petit nuage de gauche, par exemple), car je trouve qu'il est un peu trop présent et déséquilibre un peu l'image.

Excellente image, une netteté parfaite, des détails, une excellente lumière naturelle et la couleur. Visible à chaque brin d'herbe! Vous avez même pris l'oiseau dans le ciel. Seule la petit remarque: vous avez pris trop grande de ciel au-dessus du monastère, ce du monastère semble un peu plus bas que d'habitude. Si vous coupez un tiers seulement de l'arrière-plan céleste, sera beaucoup mieux. Cependant une image parfaite. Bravo!

PS. Ta photo "Queen farm" je l'ai imprime sur mon plotteur grand format (50x70 cm) et je la garde au mur dans mon attelier. Elle est ainsi flue, mais elle inspire mon romantisme et atise mon envie de bricoler qch similaire. Si tu ne m'en veux pas.

Bonjour Jean Charles,

Excellent architectural portrait, but I think I would rather have the version with the tractor, as an example of a living museum, a working priory. If you could have integrated the cows, it would, in my humble opinion, accentuate that atmosphere. But even in this form it is a superb edifice, pristine in its upkeep.

I love these country churches surrounded by the fields. I find that their architecture fits well with the environment and can be fully appreciate thanks to the space around it.
You found a splendid light and day to capture this lovely priory, the blue sky make the yellow stones of the walks stands out better. The harmonious composition does justice to this deserving monument. A very pleasant and interesting photo.

I love the interesting detail of the priory, set against a summer sky. But when I opened the tractor photo, I had difficulty choosing my favorite of the two. I really like the contrast between the 'modern' tractor and the acient building.

Your note reminds me of Ken Follet's book, Pillars of the Earth, where the town grew up around the priory.
