"Aujourd'hui, les restes de plus de 110000 soldats alliés ou allemands tués au combat pendant la bataille de Normandie reposent dans 27 cimetières de guerre": 77866 Allemands, 9386 Américains, 17769 Britanniques, 5002 Canadiens et 650 Polonais.


Entre 15000 et 20000 civils français furent tués, le plus souvent à cause des bombardements alliés. Des milliers d'autres fuirent leurs maisons pour échapper aux combats."

"Today, twenty-seven war cemeteries hold the remains of over 110,000 dead from both sides [during Normandy battle]: 77,866 German, 9386 American, 17,769 British, 5002 Canadian and 650 Poles.

Between 15,000 and 20,000 French civilians were killed, mainly as a result of Allied bombing. Thousands more fled their homes to escape the fighting."
