Photographer's Note

The beautiful sandy beach of Colleville Sur Mer, on the Calvados coast of Normandy, is also known as Omaha Beach. Here several thousand american soldiers died in the morning of June 6th 1944.
This stretch of beach saw the highest human life tribute of the D-Day.
The contrast between the beach as it is now, with people relaxing and having good time, and the terrible images of that day is really striking.
