Hello Fred--To be honest, I think this would work a lot better if the water were smoother. It's very "noisy" (not in the digital sense) and distracts the eye from seeing the man. A nice compositional idea, though. Regards, Ken.

Hi Fred,
It's a great composition, slightly 'off the beaten track' for you. However, I couldn't agree with Ken more; there is certain uncomfortableness when the viewer looks at the water. However, the image does not quite work for me because, in my humble opinion it's got to do with the two strong patterns created on the water and the grass. Both patterns are very contrastingly strong and similar to each other which makes the composition lose impact.

I had checked this one Fred, and decided to wait until I can try a WS - and comment. It reminds me of the other one you took in Caen, people going up the castle... for on both of them I feel a long format can work better, otherwise I believe it's too much water, or sky... and I believe that in both cases I want my eyes to concentrate on those long lines, and the human action. To be honest ... i don't like this one because i think it is too busy. the idea is great, the tilt and the lonely man,but the man is swallowed into the other structures. maybe in colour there would have been more dividing. i hope you don't mind my honesty :)
