Hello friends and colleagues, today I present another nice view of the beautiful and interesting city of Colmar, in the charming region of Alsace, here is a letter about the city, I hope you enjoy.
Colmar (France: Colmar; Alsatian: Colmer; German: Colmar, between 1871-1918 and 1940-1945: Kolmar) is a town and commune in the department of Haut-Rhin Alsace, France.
It is the prefecture (capital) of the district of the same name.
The old city center, well preserved houses several buildings, sometimes large, German Gothic and early Renaissance and a number of old churches, among which is the collegiate church of San Martín (XIII century) as the largest and most notable.
Local artist Martin Schongauer XV century painted what is considered his masterpiece, The Madonna of the Roses, in the Eglise des Dominicains (Dominican church). The famous Isemheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald highlight is the treasure housed in the Museum Unterlinden city. The museum, opened in 1853, is housed in the former convent of the Dominican order of "Unterlinden" (meaning "under the linden trees").
In 1834, was born in Colmar Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the famous Statue of Liberty, located in New York City.
Once a year, in August, the Fair hosts Colmar wines.
However, the greatest art is that Colmar retains traditional ambience with its wooden frame houses carefully preserved, filled with flowering geraniums on hot days.
Colmar has an interesting center, studded with old buildings, a famous museum, Unterlinden, and carefully Little Venice.
Furthermore, in the vicinity of the city there are some other points of interest, such as the magnificent town of Riquewihr, and great food and wine care also linger conception of art.
Unterlinden Museum is housed in a former Dominican convent founded in the thirteenth century, with a Gothic cloister considered the best in the region.
About 300,000 visitors come each year to the center, which exposes excellent art exhibitions of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, as well as archaeological and ethnographic, on two floors and a basement.
But the core of this whole attraction is the famous Issenheim altarpiece, painted in the early sixteenth century by Grünewald to decorate a convent chapel Issenheim (20 miles south of Colmar)
The ten paintings of Grünewald are masterful. The painter left an impressive Crucifixion, which amazed the wincing, luminous shades and many details, among which is the painful aspect of Christ's flesh.
This crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald painter has placed as one of the most prominent European and world religious art of all time.
Little Venice, a beautiful set of traditional houses, full of flowers, beautiful half-timbered, line up along the street and Fish Pier, next to the canal.
These houses were owned by fishermen. Also lived in the neighborhood gardeners traditionally used by the channel to drive the fruits to the city market. Today the boats carry tourists rather quiet.
Very near this neighborhood is that of the tanners, with houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, lovingly restored.
Around the city center of Colmar houses abound timbered Alsatian, artistic balconies, turrets, balconies and other decorative elements.
In addition to the proliferation of this type of construction, stands in Colmar exquisite care of this important heritage, full of flowers during the most benign.
This gorgeous set spans much of the city, but is particularly notable in the walk from the Cathedral Square to the Old Customs and Little Venice.

a very cute and light picture with typical architecture. I think the tilt even gives more charm to that pretty yellow house and the bikes in front sure makes it the center of attention.
Nice capture, best wishes!

Nice architecture you present us. I like the line of the fence starting with the bicycles and the life on the terrace. Hope in real life the falling domino effect will not push these houses on the ground :)

I love those views of different half-timbered houses next to each other.
That yellow facade on the corner fits very well with the brown panels. The yellow colour makes the house stand out well on the picture but the building leans so strongly ...
It seems to be typical of Alsace to brighten up the entire city with colourful flowers.
Best regards, Paul

fine shot, and its kind of funny looking too :)
I like the lean and tilt at the top left, and it also seems to be so much larger than all the other buildings.
sweet yellow and blue color combinations, and the bikes along the bottom are a nice touch of charm.
have a great weekend

Gran trabajo, me encanta.
Muy buena iluminacion, tambien la nitidez esta ideal.
Disfruta del fin de semana.
Un fuerte abrazo.

There certainly doesn't appear to be any shortage of beautiful streets and things to photograph in this city. My, another delightful and charming look at Colmar...this continues to get more and more appealing each time I see new pictures. It's always been on my wish list, and will continue to stay there until I go! :)
The big, bright, and bold yellow exterior undoubtedly steals the show here, but it's not so overpowering that it detracts from the rest of the scenic view. A very fine composition to line up this particular street in such an enjoyable perspective. Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take care.

I love these buildings :) They are so quaint and quirky, and it looks like a scene from a fairytale. Bravo for getting no obvious people in the scene as well, allowing the eye to focus on the buildings and the fine range of colors offered by the buildings and the flowers. The bikes in lower left are an excellent touch.
All the best

Je me souviens très bien de cet endroit. J'y ai même pris un petit café. Tu as eu beau temps pour faire ressortir la beauté des maisons de Colmar. J'aime beaucoup les bicyclettes à l'avant plan.
ourania (35009) 2013-10-13 6:18
this picture is very interesting and delightful, a great way to combine the picturesque setting with some graphical charm. I like very much the way you used perspective and framing to give dynamism to this quiet view. The colour management is superb, you've captured different qualities and intensities of the colours that make a great effect and seem to be meaningful too. The bending of the tall yellow building on the left is quite amusing, it looks as if it had just made it on time to be included in the frame:) Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely Sunday,

Lovely shot of this beautiful little town in Alsace with the traditional wooden frame houses. The wide angle gives a little tilt to the near building but adds to its appeal. Lovely perspective with the railings running diagonally across the shot and the colours are just fantastic. Superb.
abmdsudi (45630) 2013-10-14 4:17
Indeed a colourful square and presence of people in this kind of shot is always vital as shown. What a lovely view, full of live, the pov and perspective add interests to this luminous shot with the significant and marvelous buildings catching the attention as main focal. I love the delicious colors rendition, overall contrast and much detail to enjoy. But above, credit to your skill in achieving a good balance exposure and composition Awesome and lively shot, Congrats and tfs

The yellow facade of the traditional Alsatian building contrasts superbly against the blue sky. Good sharpness and effective tight framing with soft pastel colors and a nice inclusion of the fg bicycles to add a slice of daily life. Tfs and have a great week!
