Hello friends and colleagues, today I present another pretty interesting image channel crossing the beautiful city of Colmar and here called Little Venice, then a letter about the city, I hope you like.
Colmar (France: Colmar; Alsatian: Colmer; German: Colmar, between 1871-1918 and 1940-1945: Kolmar) is a town and commune in the department of Haut-Rhin Alsace, France.
It is the prefecture (capital) of the district of the same name.
The old city center, well preserved houses several buildings, sometimes large, German Gothic and early Renaissance and a number of old churches, among which is the collegiate church of San Martín (XIII century) as the largest and most notable.
Local artist Martin Schongauer XV century painted what is considered his masterpiece, The Madonna of the Roses, in the Eglise des Dominicains (Dominican church). The famous Isemheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald highlight is the treasure housed in the Museum Unterlinden city. The museum, opened in 1853, is housed in the former convent of the Dominican order of "Unterlinden" (meaning "under the linden trees").
In 1834, was born in Colmar Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the famous Statue of Liberty, located in New York City.
Once a year, in August, the Fair hosts Colmar wines.
However, the greatest art is that Colmar retains traditional ambience with its wooden frame houses carefully preserved, filled with flowering geraniums on hot days.
Colmar has an interesting center, studded with old buildings, a famous museum, Unterlinden, and carefully Little Venice.
Furthermore, in the vicinity of the city there are some other points of interest, such as the magnificent town of Riquewihr, and great food and wine care also linger conception of art.
Unterlinden Museum is housed in a former Dominican convent founded in the thirteenth century, with a Gothic cloister considered the best in the region.
About 300,000 visitors come each year to the center, which exposes excellent art exhibitions of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, as well as archaeological and ethnographic, on two floors and a basement.
But the core of this whole attraction is the famous Issenheim altarpiece, painted in the early sixteenth century by Grünewald to decorate a convent chapel Issenheim (20 miles south of Colmar)
The ten paintings of Grünewald are masterful. The painter left an impressive Crucifixion, which amazed the wincing, luminous shades and many details, among which is the painful aspect of Christ's flesh.
This crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald painter has placed as one of the most prominent European and world religious art of all time.
Little Venice, a beautiful set of traditional houses, full of flowers, beautiful half-timbered, line up along the street and Fish Pier, next to the canal.
These houses were owned by fishermen. Also lived in the neighborhood gardeners traditionally used by the channel to drive the fruits to the city market. Today the boats carry tourists rather quiet.
Very near this neighborhood is that of the tanners, with houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, lovingly restored.
Around the city center of Colmar houses abound timbered Alsatian, artistic balconies, turrets, balconies and other decorative elements.
In addition to the proliferation of this type of construction, stands in Colmar exquisite care of this important heritage, full of flowers during the most benign.
This gorgeous set spans much of the city, but is particularly notable in the walk from the Cathedral Square to the Old Customs and Little Venice.

Cioao e buona domenica

Those terraces on the water look like very charming places to have a drink or dinner.
This little Venice is wonderful with its traditional architecture, adorned wherever possible with flowers and plants.
Overall the picture shows a true colour palette. The image also seems as if it is painted.
Best regards, Paul

This is a wonderful shot of a very beautiful area. Your composition is excellent using the canal to lead the eye into the shot and showing the buildings from a nice angle gives the shot depth. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.
Have a nice evening,

Hola dear Angel
Oh yes, I remember reading of this enchanting place. It really is sweet and has that wonderful mix of the German architecture and the Italian/French way of life. Beautiful colours and lovely limpid reflections. The perspective created by the banks of the river is very eye-catching. Thanks for sharing.
abmdsudi (54063) 2013-03-27 10:04
A pleasure to view this burst of colors all around adding all the important impact to this river scene. Indeed a visual feast for the eyes. A wonderful shot in excellent light and overall contrast, TFS

This shot is reminiscent of the canal towns of central eastern China where I lived last year. Good composition & sharpness and superb reflections. The deck restaurant protruding out over the water at left provides a nice focal point. Good pp work on the sky with just a very faint halo visible. I use a bigger feather margin of around 100 or even 200 pixels to avoid this. Good shadow detail and composition. Tfs!
Cricri (119495) 2013-03-29 11:23
Une vue qu'on ne ce lasse pas de voir, magnifique dans les couleurs, la luminosité et le POV, bravo
EstelleJ (921) 2013-03-29 11:35
Very beautiful scene you captured here with pleasant soft color palette! I like how the houses, windows and the waterfront cafe are all adorned with flowers creating such a summery and cheerful mood. This image is so well-composed and rendered so nicely with whatever pp work that you've done on it, that it could be a water-color painting - in a nice frame it would look great on the wall to brighten up any room!
Kielia (24077) 2013-04-04 9:02
your POV on this already well known but still fascinating village works excellently, showing us its location by the river. Very beautiful colors and a wonderful light, the composition is also outstanding. My compliments!
